Maybe its left exposed as a heat sink.
like you say, it looks like a transistor, diode, rectifier, thing. Some sort of silicone gadget.

OK.. So I couldn't pop out the facia around the dimmer switch.. Without marking the suede. So went in behind the stereo instead, as I have no stereo.. Lolz..
Didn't connect the Stabiliser or ground it. Tested and all worked.. So just threw some heat shrink on the stabiliser to make sure it wouldn't ground anything out.
All installed, and a big thanks to everyone for taking the time to give advice..
Next on the list is folding mirrors..

Mate.. That would be awesome..
Yeah not using loom.. Just have a mirroe switch from an FTO.. And was gonna try to make it work. The FTO one looked a similar size/style as early Evo switch.. So figgured it would be the same..

Yeah, they are pretty good quality.
Only fault I would say on mine, is that the solder and wiring on the gauge face itself could have been a little better. It was a little flimsy.. So I touched it up.. To be safe..
Just took this shot with my Apexi Gauges as well..

No need for a case...and I dont drink beer.
6 pack of JD will be fine!
Done!!!
Will let you know how it goes.. Shot it off to my mate who I was talking about this conversion with .. He said it was what we were after .. So I will enlist his help and let you know how it goes...
Thanks heaps man ...
Now to get the mirrors tested and painted ... As I assume I won't be able to pull the guts of them out, and put on my existing colour coded mirrors...
