I assume I won't be able to pull the guts of them out, and put on my existing colour coded mirrors...

Yep you sure can !!... The shells are exactly the same.... It's a very simple swap..

My original EVO mirrors were black so I just swapped the guts over to the yellow GSR ones...

You could use a spdt relay instead of jamo 2 relay setup. Then the mirrors would auto fold in on keyoff as well.

The spdt relay would only work if the 'unfold' position switch provides power to the relay at all times. The wiring would be simplified also as the 'fold' position would just cut the power to the relay and the relay would switch to its default and fold the mirrors.
Add a delay so the mirrors arent unfolding while you cranking car and power it from acc.

i want some too.

this is a stupid idea^
It would mean the mirror will be powered all the time and probably draining battery.
Stick with the dual relay setup as inked by evogsr

Now, a real stupid question ... But how do I pull the mirrors apart..

Do I have to pry the glass off

Then get to the inner of the mirror, and unbolt that screw in the centre...

Tilt the mirror up, pull the bottom out wiggle the double sided tape loose, then the mirror slides down, heres a pic of the reverse side of mirror

Then the unit out of the cover, 3 screws around the outer edge, and 2 small screws under the black cover on the edge where it pivots (pops off from top with fingernails)

So a clip and some double sided tape is all that holds mirrors in .. Interesting...

Well, looks like I will have some fun trying this all out.. Probably won't be for a couple of weeks, but will be interesting to say the least...

To be fair its 4 clips and 2 slide clip things, lol, the double sided tapes only touches through the gaps but im guessing thats what holds the glass to the mount...

My Dad is an electrician so we went through all the options and if they would work.....the method I described was the easiest way.

I thought about a brilliant ignition on/off open/close. Which I'm sure is possible but not without getting hands on
GSR Lancer- JE-73-VO, 11.701@125mph, 1.79 60" and getting faster. No:3 conrod now orbiting the moon.

LOL.. No probs dude.

Easiest way to tell is the wires coming out.!! If there is 3 they're GSR, if there is 5 they're EVO.
