Well, called in to visit my baby today ... She is still coming along..
Front bar has had a bit more of a trim to make way for the i/c piping, but not worthy of another photo ... lol ...
The EMS ECU has been mounted and all the wiring is through to the engine bay ready to be connected. It is mounted in the glove box, so that when the glove box is closed it is all stock, but when you open her up she looks like : -
A little dark, but you can see how it is all mounted ... When it is out of the workshop I will take more/better pics...
Now for a couple of pics of how the gates are set up:
And overall shot of the engine bay as it is at the moment...
Soon she will be mine ...

Just a little update...
All wiring done .. AVC-R wired up also ... Gauges all wired, air con.. All that stuff...
Manifold has been taken off and has had the heat wrap treatment ... It should be going back on Monday/Tuesday ... Intercooler piping has all been cut ... Botom of the piping has been installed and fits on the bar.. Just gotta be welded in place ...
Oil breathers have been tapped, and I am awaiting on some silicone hose to come in so it can be connected to the catch can ... We put braided lines on first, but I just did not like the look ... The silicone is blue and matches all the other silicone parts under the hood ... But enough talking and more pictures I guess... lol ...

The two gates is so that the car will be more stable on low boost ... Not sure if it will work or not, but is worth a try .. If not, keep you eyes on ebay for a 48mm pro-gate that was never used...
But yeah, my mechanic has an early model sylvia (s13 i think) and he was running a similar turbo to me, and he had lots of trouble with stability if he wanted to run low boost.. He tried heaps of different things, spoke to many people, tried different setups and alterations, but nothing happened... He said to a few people would it help if he had the 2 gates on his car... Some people laughed, some said they didn't know, and the rest were not sure... So he tried it and it worked....
If the car was going to be a track car, then I wouldn't care ... But since this car will be driven almost daily, I would like to have it run efficiently on low boost ...

Thanks for the comments guys ... Heaps have been spent on this thing, and it just seems to keep growing.. Oh well ... That is the price you pay when you are fussy about how a car is made...
Manifold was made by my mechanic ... Ricol Automotive... Colin Walsh (the owner) does all that stuff ... It looked hot without the wrap, and I think it looks even tougher with it ... I use to get a lot of compliments about the manifold and how it was crafted ... Seems a shame to hide it with the wrap, but it has to be done ...
I hope that the metal cat (the right one) gets to us shortly ... That is really the only thing holding us up ... A couple of threads were gone where the manifold bolted up, but we have fixed that now ... So the turbo and all that will go on, then the rest of the cooler pipes, then dump pipes... then exhaust etc. etc. Then with any luck she will be on the road for me to take home and start on the gauge mounting and a basic stereo ...
Then new front + rear windscreens, maybe a little more body work .. Rego and engineering certificate, depending on cash then, I will look at converting it to climate control ...

OK, well a little bit of an update ... I wish that the car was ready to start by now, but what can you do ... It is getting there ... The exhaust is done, and has been sprayed flat black. I was going to get a pic of it, but didn't get a chance... The exhaust has pretty much no bends... And when it gets to the tip, it is on a slight angle, so that it does not have to bend at the rear ...
Other then that, the oil catch can is installed, and the silicone lines have been put on it ... It looks so much better then the braided lines that were on it for our trial fitting ... So enjoy some happy snaps.
Can you guess where the BOV is going... lol ...

Not much has changed... Exhaust has been done, and was sprayed flat back .. Just for the sake of it ... Makes it look a bit more neat... One of the boys thought they would put this there for a joke...
and the tip looks like this: -

very nice!
what size are those fittings on the rocker cover? they look massive!
did you remove the air/oil seperator baffle on the underside of the rocker cover or something?

Hmm ... I am going to have to answer ... "I don't know" to both of those questions ...
The connectors were just a generic size that was ordered by my mechanic .. Not sure of the size...
Have no idea what he did with the baffle ... Never thought to ask or check .. If I remember, I will ask when I am next there ...
