Go check out a Evo SE brochure at your local dealership. It says at the end of the paragraph on the left side:
"Now, as the idol and its believers race into a 10th generation, a new SE Package for the Lancer Evolution IX celebrates every clipped apex, every grazed redline, every hoisted trophy. The final 4G63 takes a victory lap."
Then look over at the far right side, there's a small picture of the Evo X concept. In a more faint and easily overlooked font color, it says 4B11.
Googling "Mitsubishi 4B11", you get to this page:
http://en.wikipedia....hi_GEMA_engines
Scroll down to the 4B11 and you'll find the 4B11T which they claim on the 2008 Evo X. The fact that it's in a Mitsubishi brochure now, confirms it.

Seems a lot of the community is very skeptical about the engine change... I wouldn't write it off yet, but it does kind of put the mod scene a few steps back for a little.

think of this a s a good thing... the 4g63 rocks... it absolutly rocks... look at how little the engine has actually changed/evolved over a 20 year or so period... not actually that much...

I think after 10 generations of Evolution, the only thing that hasn't evolved is that engine type. So bring it on Mitsubishi, I'm sure the next engine will be just as regarded as the 4G63

I think it'll be a shitload more responsive actually. The first three versions will be seriously overengineered until they get some durability figures, then they'll start retarding it.
IE: 6 bolt and 7 bolt cranks in VR4/e123 and so forth.
IE: 6 bolt and 7 bolt cranks in VR4/e123 and so forth.
The 4G63 motor code is street shorthand for dominance. It's automotive Darwinism.

seriously how often have they fucked up when actually making a better engine? like lorrie said.. 6/7 bolts
sohc>dohc
i'm sure it'll be fine... only issue is it will be 5 years until the good bolt on gear becomes cheap

Is it going to be a totally new motor or based upon the current crop of base models.
Mitsub is owned by someone now arn't they? Do you think they may borrow a current engine block from maybe a 230SLK?? and go the supercharging route?
I wonder if we will see EVO KOMPRESSOR written on the rear of a Lancer?
I really have no idea but thought I would put this up?
Cheers
