i have a vr4 motor wich i will be using in my lancer with the KM210 gearbox. i been told i need a flywheel from a FWD turbo US DSM. can anyone confirm this and more importantly will this flywheel fit? apparently the stock lancer ring gear dont reach the starter.

Eclipse 89-92 2.0L T 6-Bolt FWD
this is from the fidanza catalogue which does not list a VR4 galant

the sonata the gearbox comes from is a 2.4 which would make it a 4g69 (i think)
i am going for a new clutch and i want an aluminium flywheel if possible, i just don't know which one matches.

i have heard so many different things, it is drivin me mad!!
i was originally going off this: http://www.members.o...nzo/tranny.html
but i just don't know who to believe.
anyway i have the box and may well be able to get hold of an AB AC turbo cordia flywheel so i am thinking i will check if that fits then ring fidanza with the measurements etc to check against the FWD eclipse flywheel..............unless somebody can give me a straight answer with somthing to back it up.
i can't believe everything i hear obviously, and $600 isn't the sort of money i would like to spend without being sure about it!

I am running the cordia flywheel on my VR4 engine with the FWD gearbox from the 4G93 n/a CC lancer - using the factory VR4 starter motor.

I can guarantee that it works and has been for a year...

Cost me $50 for the fly, PP and clutch disc.... (that clutch didn't last long though LOL)

Basically you need a flat (no step) flywheel - same as the one which originally came with the gearbox - But with a 6 bolt pattern.

Personally i think spending $600 on a flywheel is pointless - even more so if you don't remove the balance shafts...

Depends on what sort of car you are building though - for the street or weekend track work - don't bother... IMO..

If anything remove the balance shafts and machine some meat out of the cordia fly...

All the info is correct (though the Cordia stuff is not relevant to the KM210)

I am running a 225mm VR4 clutch plate with my KM210 (I am not using the VR4 pressure plate because my flywheel is flat...sort of)
