If you had the option of buying something that you knew was safe for a similar price, which would you do?
Over the counter prices would have to be similar to the street price otherwise it wouldn't work. There's no reason why they couldn't be similar either. If it was manufactured in bulk to serve a statewide or nationwide market, there's no reason why the prices couldn't be competitive with a guy who has a lab in his garage.

you dont need drugs, unless you want bits of your brain inside your head missing. I had these 2 girls once come up to me, they were off their head, told me they took some shit, and her friend was throwing up. I dont even know why they would do that. They were not attractive either so i got out as quick as i could As my dad says, "A head like that should ache".
no drugs required at all.
no smoking next year, finally, unless your in the casino.

Was the reason for her chucking up maybe because of dodgy chemicals in a pill that was supposed to be pure MDMA?

What about the otherside of the coin and banning all "party" drugs (including alcohol & tabacco)??
Makes it fair but is that what the general community wants?

Just interested in your thoughts on this topic...
Should party drugs be legalised and sold over the counter at certain places?
This would allow the purity of the drugs to be moderated and could cause less overdoses and ensure the quality of the drugs being sold.
The current situation is a lot of backyarders manufacturing their own stuff... this would involve a compromise between making a profit and supplying a quality product. How much of a compromise is always an unkown and is subsequently a risk.
Pill testing is another option, and was discussed on J-TV a while ago, but the government and relevant authorities don't agree with it because they tend to think it will encourage drug use, which it probably would... but they apparently don't seem to care about harm minimisation.
The other thing that could slow drug use at nightclubs/pubs etc. would be to lower the prices of alcohol. This obviously won't happen though and would alcohol cheaper to buy for the people that would abuse it... so buy helping one problem, you would be effectively creating another.
Thoughts?

The latter would see jobs created, the minimalisation of shitty pills out there [ and there's heaaaaaps ], and an overall safer clubbing community. I mean, we all know smoking and drinking is responsible for the deaths of Australians... so it'd would be hypocritical to state that "party" drugs are just too dangerous. Consuming of drugs can result in injury or death due to their poor manufacture, the use of shitty ingredients and a lack of personal threshold/overall drug knowledge of the taker.
I can certainly see why conservative -and older- people would frown upon such a proposal. It's also worth noting that if this notion was followed, a new tax would, too.

Right now drugs are at a crossroad... Either we take their illegal use more seriously, and enforce a heftier penalty on offenders [ such as jail time ], or we empathise with the substance and their following and legalise, regulate and moderate their legal manufacture and distribution.

Different drug, different situation.
Very true!
I strongly disagree with things like heroin and amphetamines being legalised, but thing's like MDMA/Ecstacy aswell as pot (not that I have any interest in it) being made available.
MDMA is considered safe by many "experts" in the medical field so long as the people take it are educated about the effects it can have on your body and know what to do if they do experience any negative effects, such as dehydration

That'd exclude people who are addicted and/or need a "harder" hit, but there will always be minorities unreachable in many situations; not just drugs.
