What power should I be getting?

evo 1 4g63
TD05H-16G
pod filter
Microtech ecu
full exhaust
big front mount with aluminum piping
Bosch fuel pump
The engine has 140k's on it, but the thing runs like an absolute dream. it started up perfectly the first time, no tappet noise or anything (not sure if 4g63's do it like the 93's do?)
Anyway, anything over 170/180kw i'll be happy with. what do you reckon? i'm not saying that's what i'll get, i'm just saying if i get more than that i'll be happy.
OH and how much boost is that turbo able to run? and what do evo's generally run stock (boost)?

TD-05 16G can go up to 21psi before they lose efficiency i think.
as for how much power, it will depend on the tune and how much boost you are running.

BUT, for a daily car, how much boost should I be running? whats a safe amount for a 4g63 with stock internals? how much power would i get if i was running 20psi with a good tune?
this is why i take it to them
That turbo is bigger than the engine itself :\

evo stock boost is around the 8-10psi mark.

BIG 16g 25psi
BTW... does anyone else have a sore ass??

If you want a good tuner speak to matt spry at Performance Injection Tuning Services (PITS), he is down on the gold coast but is well worth it.
Probably the best tuner in SE QLD

the fact that theres no lifter noise what so ever (yet) is definately a plus
Soooooo I know theres threads on this already, but what would I need to reach 200kw? I thought of heading down that road with my sil80 but meh, i'd rather more power in a awd. anyway, what would be needed?
sorry for the noob questions but as i've said before, i know jack all about evo stuff, but lots when it comes to s13's. bah.

Okay I don't freakin get it. the 16g compared to the t25 on my sil80 is smaller, yet the 16g can handle more boost? why the hell is the housing on garret turbo's so huuuge. lol.
Soooooo I know theres threads on this already, but what would I need to reach 200kw?
you think the t25's housings are hge, go find a CT26 of a toyota 3sgte (gt4) engine, massive - but crap.
depending on the dyno, 20psi should get you there - i've seen 185kW on 18psi from 16G's a whole buncha times (untuned too).
James' Evo1 made nearly 250kW with a stock 16G (not on pump gas tho)

What went bang?

It got dyno'd at 157kw at all fours, on 14psi. I was expecting a fair bit more, so when i saw the graph, was mighty pissed off. luckily, 157kw in an awd is craploads faster than 187kw at the rear in an s13. straaaange. anyway, might put it up a bit. hoping to reach 200kw one day....

well, the dyno readout was extremely disapointing, but the actual power and the feel of it kicking you back is unreal.

That sounds about right for 14psi, but realistically there's something wrong if all it can handle is 14 pound without detonation.

My mates E3 made exactly the same power on 1 bar with a full exhaust only.
Its not a numbers game..as you said it will be a quick car on the street..with a Shitload of midrange which is what gets you away from the pack...
Ill be dynoing mine soon.
4G63
Small 16G (ported)
3 inch exh
Pump and reg
Pod an inlet piping
Cooler+piping
i hope to see around 160kw @ all 4 on around 16 pound.

i didn't say it couldn't handle more than 14psi...just need to up the boost. 14psi is what the mechanic tuned it on.
yeah but how do you know how much is too much when you go upping the boost, if its not tuned for it?
I always thought that you tune your car for its peak power and limits- bring the timing back 10% and your away laughing?
