I swapped the turbo from underneath the car rather than pulling the exhaust manifold off this time around, and I'm really not sure it was any easier this way. It was a pain in the arse getting the water fittings off (had to pull the bolts that hold the compressor and exhaust housings out to get enough room to swing a spanner) in order to get to the last bolt on the t3 flange. I think next time I'll just pull the exhaust manifold out lol.

I find the best way to remove/install the turbo is to pull out the radiator and work from the front of the car.

Yup, that's the one. It came off a mate's 4L BA motor, and it was laggy enough on that, so I'm expecting it to be a real pig on my car lol. A friend reminded me tonight that ripco stock silicon bends these days, so it should be up and running tommorrow now, but I've gotta fit a second pump before I can get it tuned.

I wonder if it's about time to change the stock inlet manifold? :D

Looking good!

The polished cover will give you a bit more power also... Just like mine!

Want to sell that 1.06 housing?

Sorry mate, the 1.06 housing is going back to my mate. I'll ask him if he's interested in offloading it when I see him next though :)

i think the stocker with a bit of porting would be good on the street but hurt top end power, especially from peak power through to redline. Ive got a hypertune on mine but with a XF 65mm TB,seems to work well.

Things have been a bit slow the last few weeks due to some family issues, but I got it finished yesterday and started up - all went fine until I went to take it for a drive, and it's got no gears lol. Maybe someone can suggest something before I pull the box out again?

The clutch is not disengaging completely. If the car is started in neutral, then you can't get any gears. If you start it in first with the clutch depressed, it idles lower than usual, and pulling it back into neutral sees the revs jump up, so it's obviously not completely disengaging. When started in first, the friction point feels like it's in the right place, and the clutch pedal feels fine.

I've bled the system from the slave twice, to the point that it's completely flushed. Checking by eye, the slave seems to have the correct amount of travel when the clutch is pressed. You can't see enough through the bell-housing breather or inspection hole underneath to see if it's disengaging properly (but I think the tolerances are fine enough that you probably couldn't notice by eye anyway).

Anyone have any thoughts? Is there any other adjustment in the system? We're sure the plates are lined up and installed within the cage correctly (they went back in the same way they came out), so our current thought process is one of the plates may not be completely true, and hence dragging.

I had thought about resleeving the slave slightly smaller to get a bit more travel out of it - any thoughts on that?

Yeah I had thought that, seems strange though since the clutch plates that came out were still in pretty good nick, and it was fine previously. I might buy a new pivot ball, slave and maybe a fork (they're bloody expensive though!) and replace them when I pull it all out again this weekend anyway.

Maybe the fork has snapped? I'm working on a car at the moment that has the same symptoms as your describing and it is the fork has worn away so much that the slave cant operate it correctly anymore.

Pedal box was fixed recently, I'll check it, but I think it's okay. Looks like I'll be pulling it all out on Saturday again lol.

I've got a new surge tank to go under the car and take a second pump too.

Nice work... surgies under the rear boot floor of the car is a great idea! Less noise, less smell, less clutter... you and I think alike mate :)
