Have you got one under there too? Got any pics?

The smell is the biggest part of it - no matter what I did to seal up all the fittings, it always continued to leave the car smelling of fuel. It'll be nice to drive the car with the windows up :D

Na not yet but its on the cards depending on how much fueling I need. I've been in way too many cars with surgy's in the back and they all stunk of fuel. Some enough to give you dizziness after 20 minutes of driving.to make you sick. I saw this awesome under floor surgetank setup on a GSR years ago and am going to apply a similar design in mine. Its basically a low level one, like a mini suge tank mounted upside down under the boot floor.

There's plenty of room under there, so you should be able to come up with something decent to fit! Speaking of the smell, when I pulled apart the current pump setup this morning, there was no crush washer on the inlet of the 044 .. might explain why it smelt so bad

Anyway, I headed over to motorsport connections this morning with a big tube of anal lube, and came back with the following:

Posted Image

Then pulled out the old pump and put it together. The 044 brackets didn't even come close to lining up on the pumps, so I had to grind them off, and I'm out of argon so I can't weld new ones on. I'll pick up a new tank of gas during the week, weld the brackets back on in the right place, and finish it off next weekend.

The clutch will probably have to wait until next weekend too, unless I find a bout of inspiration tomorrow.

haha go for it. I probably stole the idea off someone anyway.

I'd change a bunch of things if I did it again. This was a 2 minute sketch on the back of a napkin (literally) without anything around to measure up. I'd leave the overall heigh of the tank the same, but extend the top down so it's just above where the top of the pumps sit (leaving just enough room for the pump brackets). This would give it a bit more capacity (mine is bang on 1.8L) with more effective use of space. I'll also be cutting the mounting brackets off the top of mine and just welding four tabs on it so it sits flush with the bottom of the boot.

You could also possibly find some m18x1.5 weld on bungs so you can screw the pump inlet straight onto the tank. They'd have to have provisions for the crush washers and also be welded on pretty securely so you can put a fair bit of force on them when you tighten them up the pumps, but it'd save you about $100-$150 in fittings.

Hey guys,

My poor car's been neglected for a while 'cause of a new business and shit, but I've finally gotten off my arse and sorted out a few things.

I put a new clutch kit in it, finished off the fuel system, put a new inlet manifold on and added a set of ID2000 injectors. I also took the GT35/66 off and put the GT3076 back on, 'cause it was too much of a pig with the bigger turbo.

It came off the dyno last night making 445hp atw on 98, and 490hp atw on Caltex e-flex, both on 25psi. The wastegate didn't want to hold any more than 25psi .. Mick tried adding pressure to the top of the diaphragm, but then the blow off valve decided to shit itself, so it was left there. I don't really think it'll make more power anyway, the poor turbo is already well outside it's efficiency range.

I haven't driven it yet, but apparently it likes to do silly shit like spin all through second and into third, so I'm looking forward to it.

Awesome news and result Steve, what gate are you using? Micks been pumping them out lately

My mate Anthony bought Micks cousins white EVO2 with the 2.3 stroker, that thing HAMMERS with the GT3037S .82 rear, last thing i heard was Mick wanted to throw something bigger on :o

Yep, still the 0.63 rear on the 3076. It comes on so freaking hard now on E85 .. it actually scares me haha.

I'm using an old turbosmart 45mm gate. It does the job okay, but it's way too big - next time I pull the turbo off, I'll change it for a tial or one of the newer turbo smart gates that are smaller. That white 2 is a machine .. I still remember it from when it was a stocker. Good to hear it went to a good home!

I'm gonna try and get the car engineered now, as I'm getting a bit too old to get defected. I had a chat with an engineer this morning, and everything I need to do is pretty straight forward which is good. Emissions is gonna be the obvious problem .. I'd like to get it through as close to how it normally is without changing cams and stuff, but we'll see.

According to an RTA certified weigh bridge, my car is only 1140kg (680 front, 460 back) which was good news - I had some strange idea that the 2L was HEAPS heavier than the 1.8

G'day lads,

Are there any advantages to a 1.5 way LSD over a 1 way up the front? I imagine that lock-up under deceleration is going to promote understeer on turn-in, and that'll be potentially worse again if the centre is locked.

Before I order the 1-way, are there any benefits to the 1.5 way I'm missing?

I have a 1.5 way in the front and it works well for drag racing but no good for cornering

I have a 4 spider centre, it only likes going straight. Accelerate on a corner and it pulls away to straighten up..

Thanks lads, I ended up grabbing a 1 way from Greenline.

My gearset arrived today, so I'll drop the box off later in the week to get some loving. I am excited :D

Long time between updates man. Good to hear youre going to get it engineered and stuff. Yeah I ditched my GT3082 and 280 cams for a new GTX3076 and Kelford 272's. Ill get Mick to tune it cause I know he has a good rep with the 4G63's.
