How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.

Never been on a dyno. All I know is that there isn't any power drop off at all in the upper Rpm's like when I had the smaller turbo and stock cams.
I'm running a 50trim turbo and BC272's now.

Dan, when I got mine it had Camtech 272s in it, it had NO problem hitting the limiter at 7800. Everything bar that was factory head. With the turbo you have, if you are shifting at 7000 you aren't really using it to its advantage. Rev the fucka!

well well well ....

after not having any time to take the car for a drive I finally took it out the week before last. Prior to this, the last few times id driven it, things didn't quite seem normal - performance wasn't up to par, the car was blowing a bit of black smoke on boost, which a few of you may have noticed on the Christmas cruise last year. From then to now I think I would be lucky to have driven the thing 5 times, but in that time, It had developed a nasty cut out that would rear itself on boost in every gear, followed by the CEL coming on four or five times.

So after taking it for a spin last time, and finally having some friggen time to have a look around, I discovered that the ARP turbo bolts had all come loose, one was even backed out all the way and only being held in position by the ARC heatshield. Needless to say, the gasket was munted.

I had the car at techsport yesterday for a general service of everything, a proper wheel alignment and some other bits and pieces (including a new turbo gasket), and whilst reinstalling the turbo, low and behold, one of the ARP bolts snapped in the turbine housing - not cool. A big thanks to Zac and Jeff who spent a decent amount of time on the car yesterday, and everything is now back to its normal, wheelspin in 3rd gear, best!!

I was going to get the advans put on today but again, I ran out of friggen time. Next week hopefully.

I hope next time you're using a better metal gasket without the goo
Its amazing how much power you lose with even the slightest exhaust leak so glad to know you got it sorted and having some fun again Dan
PS: Broken bolts are a c*nt of a thing to remove especially if someone threaded the bastards beforehand!

Yikes broken!

What are you going to do with locking them in place?
Spring washers don't really work well due to the heat, they tend to lose the spring!
Loctite will burn out.
I say drill each head and run wire through them to stop them from backing out.

I think the goo is exhaust crap, as no goo was used on it at all (its (or was) a copper SCE gasket from FFWD Connection) ...

I might just have to keep a regular eye on them for the interim baz ...

Do the stock bolts have washers? I can't remember.
They too tend to break in the exhaust housing.

I remember now, you can buy these special lock washers which are really rough on both sides and basically cut into the manifold and bolt heads to stop them from backing out. You can get them from turbo shops or fastener places..

you take your car to techsport now?..

anyways.. the above washer barry mentioned is great i run them on my car.
also have you tried to put studs in the turbo and use locking nuts on the studs? the studs will never come off the turbo and the bolts should hold in position!

You have only driven it 5 times? wow! doesnt see much road use i gather... its a shame! its a nice car and all that should b out every weekend!

the genuine washers are dimpled and work well. lock wiring is a good thing though, Im lock wire crazy!

and lots of antiseize is essential.
