pretty cool idea for those that don't want to fork out the $$ for a genuine evo2 lip (plus they're fkn hard to find)

Installed an Evo 1 bumper and realised the thing looked horribly high... looked like someone kicked the nose up... Anyway, seeing as the Evo 2 lip is worse than gold to find (let's not even talk about evo side skirts... don't know how hard it is you guys down under) I decided to use the GSR lip.

Now my methods wern't exactly the best, but between all here I'm sure a better method can be found..

Step 1:

Check the inside of the lip. You'll find a set of small ribs running along the inside. Take a pliers and remove these (items in red). Also, remove the two end pieces as these will all keep it from fitting onto the bumper.

Step 2:

Get a couple mates to hold the bumper... one on the opposite end and one on the front. You'll realise the bumper is not contoured for the GSR lip, so it will have to be stretched somewhat.

While you're on the end, have your mate line the top of the lip with the side intake vent

when done, and lined up to the side, take a screw and put it straight through the side (left arrow)

Step 3:

Do same for opposite side. The mate holding the lip in front just has to make sure it's lined up with the vent while you bolt it.

Step 4:

Hold the center now and make sure again it lines up with the vent pieces... Then take some screws and bolt the center.

Make sure the screws are a bit longer so they'll go right in. you can use some sort of clip for the screw to bolt from the inside so it won't come off...

Step 5:

Re connect your tow hook cover, but you may have to screw this in also...

If you find the lip wanting to slide up on the bumper, as it is a tight fit, take some hard foam or something plastic and fit it below the bumper. there is a space between the lip and the bumper itself near to the bumper's side vents that will fit them. Use something to keep them in place and they'll be fine.

and voila... GSR lip completed. Easier to get I'll add...

I dont think it looks terrible at all :P . It looks better than just stock without the lip. But as mentioned, it would look better when painted though.

I thought about doing this to mine but the screws thru the bar being the only real option for attaching it was the main thing puting me off, that and I don't have the tow hook cover on my GSR lip. But I have a Evo II lip now so it is all good.

it's not that bad of a look, why should every one have a plain coat of paint, maybe he wants people to look at him, I sure look at a car if it is standing out as it drives by.
