Can anybody suggest a good street legal semi-slick in a similar size (205/40/17)? I don't plan to drive the car in the wet. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use them on the street?

Thanks... :)

I assume your car is FWD? Does it make much of a difference compared to what tyres you were running previously and how much power do you have?

Which arnt true semi's :P
More of a sticky street tire.
True semi is a Falken RSV04, Yoko A032/48, Bridgestone R540(55?) ..... etc

The RT215 is a good tire for its price bracket but :)

yes it is, and on lowish boost (14psi) it made a big difference, but on higher boost (18psi) it still spins in 1st and 2nd, 3rd. I'm sorting out a new clutch and suspension so i'll be able to let you know for sure how much of a difference they make, because right now with stock suspension (just lowered springs in the front) I dont think i'm getting their full potential. I'll be swapping to ROCK hard 4WD cyborg 'Super Special DIRTRA' KYB's in the back, and Tein HA's in the front. Hopefully that'll help. I'll keep you posted :)

So its a semi semi-slick? AFAIK, they're classified as semi slicks......?

i decided to get the Toyo Proxes 4, mainly due to the fact they ordered a set in for a customer and he specified 215/45/17 not 215/40/17 so they gave the set to me at $140 a tyre! :D

I am running 19psi and have 210kw's at the front wheels, but I don't really have traction issues in 3rd gear unless the road surface is poor. I have an LSD and stiffened adjustable konis in the rear to assist the power being tranferred to the pavement.

I just want to make better use of first and second gear on the street. Currently, it's hopeless. If you could keep me informed, that would be great! :P

Are there any other semi-slicks available from other brands? Anybody else use them for street use?

yep no sweat, add me to your msn if you like- [email protected]

if the toyo semi slicks are as good as their street tyres like the T1R, then i'd invest in a set of toyo R888's.......!!

I'm running these:

They are the Falken azenis RT615 205/40/17. They superseeded the RT215 which were also a great tyre. I've found the 615's to be an awesome semi slick street tyre in the dry. Really predictable and have held on when i was sure they would have reached there limits on a number of occassions. I haven't tried them on a track day yet but i'll update as soon as I do. In the wet' i've found them compareable with any other sperformance street tyre i've tried.

The last quote i got was $220 a corner shipped to your door. Give me a pm if you want the details.

If you can get a set of the 215's. Grab them! They are a bit better imo in the dry but not real great in the wet. Apearently they hold up a bit better on track days aswell i've heard.

Another + for the Azines, they are an amazing tyre for the price, I have been in a few cars with them fitted. The most notable one was the datsun 1600 which took corners at mind altering speeds with not even a hint of slippage.

It seems they now stock a 615 in a 15" excelent, if I cant get my 16's to fit I will upgrading to these for sure.

Well I seem to need new tyres, In my garage I have two 215/45 R17 87W Bridgstone potenza tyres that have a bit of camber wear on the inside edges but are still ok to use (I would put them on the rear) and two 215/40Z R17 tyres with about 20% tread left on them on the front of my car.(the rear two have about 1% tread left) what I would like to kno is will the differences in size of these tyres make a difference? like if I am to buy two more new tyres which size will I be best to go for?
