Can anybody suggest a good street legal semi-slick in a similar size (205/40/17)? I don't plan to drive the car in the wet. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use them on the street?
Thanks...
Im running semi's on the street, Falken azeni's, 215x45x17 on 17x7" wide wheels, got them (used) for $200, still heaps of tread on them

I assume your car is FWD? Does it make much of a difference compared to what tyres you were running previously and how much power do you have?

More of a sticky street tire.
True semi is a Falken RSV04, Yoko A032/48, Bridgestone R540(55?) ..... etc
The RT215 is a good tire for its price bracket but

yes it is, and on lowish boost (14psi) it made a big difference, but on higher boost (18psi) it still spins in 1st and 2nd, 3rd. I'm sorting out a new clutch and suspension so i'll be able to let you know for sure how much of a difference they make, because right now with stock suspension (just lowered springs in the front) I dont think i'm getting their full potential. I'll be swapping to ROCK hard 4WD cyborg 'Super Special DIRTRA' KYB's in the back, and Tein HA's in the front. Hopefully that'll help. I'll keep you posted

I am running 19psi and have 210kw's at the front wheels, but I don't really have traction issues in 3rd gear unless the road surface is poor. I have an LSD and stiffened adjustable konis in the rear to assist the power being tranferred to the pavement.
I just want to make better use of first and second gear on the street. Currently, it's hopeless. If you could keep me informed, that would be great!
Are there any other semi-slicks available from other brands? Anybody else use them for street use?

yep no sweat, add me to your msn if you like- [email protected]
if the toyo semi slicks are as good as their street tyres like the T1R, then i'd invest in a set of toyo R888's.......!!

They are the Falken azenis RT615 205/40/17. They superseeded the RT215 which were also a great tyre. I've found the 615's to be an awesome semi slick street tyre in the dry. Really predictable and have held on when i was sure they would have reached there limits on a number of occassions. I haven't tried them on a track day yet but i'll update as soon as I do. In the wet' i've found them compareable with any other sperformance street tyre i've tried.
The last quote i got was $220 a corner shipped to your door. Give me a pm if you want the details.
If you can get a set of the 215's. Grab them! They are a bit better imo in the dry but not real great in the wet. Apearently they hold up a bit better on track days aswell i've heard.
I drink my beer a quarter pint at a time, and for those 2 seconds or less, I'm free!
