Whats difference between a bare NA 4g63 and a bare Turbo 4g63 is there.... If anyone has looked in the Parts for sale section I'm potentionally interested in buying the starting block for a new 4g63t for myself.... Apart from pistons and rods and such, are the block and crank essentially the same? Or would I be at a disadvantage starting with a NA block crank? Also the heads.... Much difference there?

Thanks guys

Chris

heads are the same apparently ...

id say the block would be similar too. Rods and pistons would probably be different, but someone else may have to clarify :?

People turbo the NA Hyundai motors so cant see why not dude. If you are gonna build an NA block make sure you use forged postons and rods because the NA blocks dont have the oil squirters in them. You'd have to make up an oil return drain line to the sump for the turbo and maybe tap in another vacuum to the intake manifold. The injectors and cams would need changing and you'd want to make sure you've got a knock sensor too and that the fuel pressure regulator at the end of the fuel rail is suited for the fuel pressures a turbo demands. Probably other stuff too but that just comes first to mind together with the different compression ratios. I've never looked into it because VR4 engines in need of a rebuild can be bought for as little as $500 these days and consider that the starting point :)

What was done the head.

Are they the 1G lifters or new ones? Did the head get any machining.. Was the bottom touched at do you know...??

Thanks

Chris

head was machined front last memory, nothing else was touched just new valve stems and grind the valves in, but having bent valves they would be cracked already and need to be re done. i didn't supply lifters but i think Phaser already had ones ready for em so don't know bout that.

i would get the head re machined as the bent valves would have hit some of the edges, change the valve guides and new valves and seals. head is in stock form, from an n/a 4G63
