Ive seen a guy loose a soft top silvia which he spent around $20G on top of the purchase price and it was taken back to japan, so the owner in japan got a pretty mint car

Its not about if its genuine or not its the fact that:

1) Its an REP registered in NSW
2) Its got "import documentation and paperwork from mitsubishi" Ahhh, last time I checked, Mitsubishi didn't do reshells to get their cars registered
3) It has a build plate from a totally different car on it. yeah nice one, that must have been mitsubishi when they imported it and registered it through the loophole??

If it was a proper reshell you:

A) Cannot register it in NSW (AFAIK)
Would have the original CE9A buildplate still riveted (properly) onto the firewall
C) Wouldn't have a home made VIN number on the firewall
D) Wouldn't have something covering the original VIN on the firewall- (thats what it looks like)


Im fairly sure that the last time I checked it was ILLEGAL to fuck with cars VIN numbers and build plates right? AP's of not, that is one seriously dodgy car, plus the 3 kit RUINS it!

No one ever said that you couldnt drop evo gear into a GLXi and get it registered as a rebirth....

the REPV plate is fine. its a plate printed out by i think vic roads or engineers.

The GLXi plate is a little sus. This would mean to have done this legitimately it would have to have had rear floor pan removed and rewleded and maybe some other bit and pieces..

For piece of mind.. All you have to do is contact the RTA and give them the vin etc etc and pay your $38 or whatever it is to have a check done for an interest or flags on the vehicle. If none are found. then good. But it may not be a genuine evo shell, and, if it is, they have rebirthed glxi into an evo ..

if anyone is serious about purchasing that car, or anyother for that matter, i would consider it rediculous to NOT do any research/homework on it.

if you dont look into a car and buy it only to realize its a lemon, you have no one to blame but yourself

LOL.. thanks Dre. i have seen it done before that is all. knew a few dodgey importers and this is how they would register some of there cars..

again, check with RTA before purchasing, if they clear it. Then it is legal. See what the systems say it is. maybe its a gl or whatever with a driveline conversion and accompanying document for this (Meaning, they drilled the plate off the GL and stuck it to the EVO) and not actually done the conversion.

If you know the right people, anything is legal. usually rebirthing is left for stolen vehicles. But can be used to rebirth an import into a road registrable car.

Dre. I dont agree with it and yes, its not legal. but where there is a will there is a way. i guess this was the way.

again, to reiterate. Check with RTA before considering buying this car, have it inspected by someone who knows evos/gsrs to see what has been done, if this car has been flagged and firewall cut, he cant sell it, he cant do shit with it. and the car will have registration cancelled, Rebuild plate will be cancelled, and chasis will be cancelled. only good for parts..

I'm sick of dodgy people so I reported the ad to ebay. Feel free to do the same.

The vin no has obviously been home made as Dre said and stamped on to cover the standard lancer one.

Whether or not this car is legitimate and clears with the local traffic authority or not, fucking with the VIN is illegal and if it goes through an ID inspection the car will be ripped off the road. I find it funny that now he's editted it to remove all that stuff about it being complied by Mitsubishi! Dodgy fuck...
