Cheers
Went and took a look at this one this afternoon:

Ended up buying the (original) bonnet. The front bar is def EVO1-2, it has no reo or mesh and a slight ding on the front towards the passenger side of the intercooler opening.
The car itself has a bit of a rough paint job, it has the GSR interior in it, motor, intercooler setup and oil cooler setup are definitely all EVO gear. Didn't inspect it too closely, though the guy selling it seems like a nice bloke and was open to the idea of parting it out.
Not a Mitsi but just had to post because the guy has done a good job on the ad:

It is alleged that he also purchased a blue EVO2 from a member on this forum and subsequently registered that as a GSR using its VIN.....
It may not be your intention to sell dodgy cars and as we do not know you very well, we should give you the benefit of the doubt, but what you have described is not legal.
If somebody knowingly (or worse still - unknowingly!) purchased an EVO that was registered as a GSR and ran into trouble (ie involved in a serious accident) and something dodgy was uncovered with the VINS, then they would be without the 3rd party insurance that covers them as part of their vehicle registration. Even something not as serious (pre-sale police report or vehicle inspection for example) where VINS are cross-checked could result in the owner no longer being able to legally drive their vehicle on the road or even with the vehicle being impounded.
There is a reason people go to a great deal of trouble to convert AUS spec Lancers and GSRs into EVOs and pay to have them engineered and registered correctly and why genuine yellow plate EVOs hold their value.

Car conversion is car conversion. It's still illegal whether the VINS are stolen or not! There's no 2 ways about it. It's a legal landmine for any potential buyer of that car.
I'm sure 99% of people on this forum know that a lot of genuine 1,2,3 evos In Australia are registered as 1.8L gsr awd so it's nothing new for anyone because evo 1,2,3 wasn't aloud to be imported unless it's for race/rally purposes or personally import yellow plate
This is incorrect information. For someone who buys and sells EVO's I would expect you to know more about this topic. The REP/REB VIN loophole in Victoria and S.A is the reason why there were older EVO's and VR4's able to be registered on the roads. These are the cars with VIN's that were not able to be registered in NSW, which is the reason why you don't see many registered in that state. You also get GSR's that were completely converted to EVO spec but are still a CD5A chassis.
There were a series of recalls where owners of Repairable write off/Rebuild VIN cars had to present their vehicles to VicRoads (RTA) for an inspection before being allowed to continue to register and drive them on the roads. I never heard any issues for owners with those. Being a former owner of a REB VIN Galant VR4 myself, I never had any dramas whatsoever.
While we appreciate your honesty and promptness in addressing this topic, I strongly suggest you tread carefully with any prospective buyers of the "GSR" you are selling, as at the end of the day they have the potential to cause their ASPEC VIN to be cancelled, JSPEC chassis number to be blacklisted, and at worst- car being seized.
