The 'Evo 0' nickname extends to this model as well:

08/90 - 03/92 Evolution Jspec Galant VR4 (Manual) E39A-02##### SNPF 240(176)@6000 rpm 304Nm @ 3500 rpm MD165808 5spd 3.909 TD05 16G 510cc Y 1350 kg VR4 Evoloution - GSR

And I'm not sure where the 'GSR' comes from??

*edit* - whoops.. I did a super-newbie thing and dragged up a post from the dead! my bad.

Wonder why aus-spec is so much heavier than jap-spec?? The bumper bars wouldn't account for 100kg+ extra. Maybe the jap quote dry weight?

Have you removed the front and rear bumpers of an Aus spec? They are heavy as feck! Also, ADM VR4's have side intrusion bars where as JDM's don't.

AU Spec intercooler I think is also a cast unit. The JDM spec cooler weighs less than 5kg including piping. That's more weight that the JDM doesn't have.

The rio's behind the front and rear bars on aspecs are 15-17kg each.
The 4G63 motor code is street shorthand for dominance. It's automotive Darwinism.

Nah, the A spec intercooler is not much more than an over grown oil cooler, all steel and surprisingly small.

Hey guys just thought I would let you know I've made a web site outlining all the JDM E38A and E39A Galant VR-4 and Eterna ZR-4 models. It's a bit of a work in progress at the moment and I'm constantly adding to it, so if anyone spots any errors or has any more input to add then feel free to let me know.

The link is http://www.philsparts.co.nz/vr4

Cheers,
Phil

well someone has put the 8 spoke alloy rims on then. The pre-facelift 88 and up to October 89 ZR4 had the same rims as the same year VR-4s as pictured by the Mitsubishi brochures themselves.. it wasn't until the October 89 facelift that the ZR-4 came with the 8 spoke rims, along with the normal facelift changes like headlamps, spot lamps, tail lamps, small interior revisions etc.

Rims are easy to swap. Faking a Mitsubishi brochure from the 80s isn't.
