How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.

Yeah, those gasless migs are pathetic.
Mine is so dud, it's doesn't even allow the use of gas, it's the type with the flux cored filler wire. In other words, rubbish.
I can't afford a fully fledged 3 phase MIG welder. I wish I had one, they are so much better.
Rob, I'll bring mine around to show you how crap they are..........well maybe I shouldn't give it such a bad wrap........it is GMC......
Thanks for your replies fellas.
EDIT: Oh yeah, they're steel.

BTW you can get very good single phase migs for under 1 gorilla gas/gasless and if you add argon to your gas reserve you can do alloy too. but the cheap ones do have issues with the alley wire (cheap single drive wire feeders)
I'm about to buy a MIG ! The only thing i have left to buy now is a lathe and mill. Dad has those but i want my own!

I just bought a Tradetools cheapie mig, $370 including auto helmet. Cost $420 all up including spare tips and nozzles and some different wires (including 0.8mm gasless which I haven't had a chance to play around with yet). As far as I am concerned, it works (at present) just as well as my father in law's Lincoln $1500 setup that I have been using until now. The duty cycle isn't up there like the Lincoln's but I rarely weld anything over 4mm thick anyway so have not found it's limits yet. My only complaint is that the earth lead and gun lead are too short. The earth lead is easy enough to extend though.
Marek, rolling aluminium is not cheap, about $60 per bend if you get the whole length rolled to a constant radius, and you will need about a 3mm wall to do it. We use BJR (I think they might now be called Rollpress) through work but they do not like small jobs. You would be better off buying aluminium mandrel bends and having it welded up.

Basically for every bend over 45 deg you will loose a %-age of power
Less pipe + less bends = better flow and more power.
But we know it isn't always possible
I still think the intercooler on the earlier evos was and after thought.
Is it better on the Evo10?
