Easiest way to get to clutch?

just wonding, i have to get my my clutch, do u find it easier to remove the whole engine or just the box?

if you dont have a hoist....as I dont.....then I would consider taking the motor and box out of the car. I had to take the box back out to put a washer under the pivot ball for the clutch fork. I did this on axle stands and swore a lot. its not so bad getting the box out but getting it back in while laying on your back under it is .......well this is when the swearing started.

I've done it both ways. 1. Remove box from under the car and 2. Removing the complete engine and box out. The underneath method can be a real bitch and yeah you do swear frikken heaps!!! You basically have a lot of farking around to do especially manoeuvreing the gearbox between a small tight space (frikken K-frame doesnt help either). There isnt much more to do from that method to be able to remove the whole engine and box out from the top either. Its much of a muchness ... either way is a bitch of a job you wish you didnt have to do too often

yea i got a hoist, im just gona remove the box made a start today

yea i removed my box today to get to that pivot ball, wasnt so bad getting it off but damm its a bithch getting the thing back on,
id def say might aswell take the lot out when doin this

lolz you can put a spacer undr the pivot ball without removing the box!! i have done it on afew occasions.. takes about 1-2hrs to get a couple of washers under the pivot ball! alot of fiddly stuff but alot better then taking the box out

yea i saw i could have got it on there, but the pivot ball was stuck on pretty tight, even witht he box off it took a fair bit of leverage...
all that work for a couple of washers!!!

Still doesnt fix the worn shift fork, but does a temporarry job for the time being
