Hey everyone,

As I type this I'm right in the middle of pulling parts from my car and installing a new radiator and hoses. I was able to pull the radiator out without removing the front bumper, but I decided that while I'm down in the engine here I might as well do some cleanup on the FMIC.

I can't for the life of me pull this front bumper off. I've unscrewed every nut & bolt that looks to be connecting the bumper to the chassis. It looks like the frame is connected right under the headlights to the bumper... I can't even figure out how to remove the front headlights for that matter.

Could someone please help? I'll end up ruining the bumper at this rate.

Thank you!

front lights are connected to your quater panels, take them of and there may be some hidden screws behind them..
also take your foglights out and above the foglight holes theres a main rail the bumper will be connected to, 2 or 4 bolts for both sides.
hope that helps.

Wow, you really have to take the quarter panels off to get at the headlights and front bumper?

Man... Mitsubishi sure doesn't like to make things easy... ugh.

1 belt on the sede of each fender that the front bumper bolts to, also theres 2 bolts under the car in each chassis rail that holds the front bumper support frame.. after u take them off then it should come off with ease

It seems like it's those 2 bolts that's holding me up right now. Is the only way to get at those bolts is to take out the headlights? If so, then I can't seem to figure out how to pull the lights.

you dont need to take the headlights out to take the front bumper off

heres some pics i just took off my car

They are 12mm bolts and you will nees an extension to get to them from underneath

Thanks for those pictures, but I'm still having a hard time seeing where exactly those bolts are and how they connect to the front bumper skin.

I'm STILL under here trying to pull the bumper off and I can't, for the life of me, figure at how to get to the bolts holding the bumper on. This is crazy. maybe I'm missing something painfully obvious.

What did you mean by this? I don't understand which bolts you're referring to.

I found the 2 bolts on each side for the support reails, but not sure about the "belt"

I would say that is a typo and means "bolt"

there are no belts securing the bumper

Get under your car and look up at the chassis rails - there's two holes on each rail that give you access to each bolt that is holding the front bar reinforcement to the body.

You'll need a 10 or 12mm socket on a LONG extension and then you'll just have to guide the socket up into the rail and onto the bolt. Undo those (2 per side) and then move to the two bolts holding the reinforcement to the radiator support (near the headlights). Then move to the bolts in each wheel arch (1x each). The reinforcement should slide out. DO NOT remove the bumper skin from the reinforcement.

Fantastic, I'll try that. In the middle of problem solving a radiator that doesn't want to push fluid.... ~_~

Thanks again,

Push fluid :?:

I filled the radiator and connected the lower hose, but for some reason the engine won't suck in any of the fluid. i.e. what a radiator should do. Ideas?

The radiator is only a cooling unit - it serves no purpose other than to cool the water whilst it is circulating.

The engine does not suck water - it pumps it. Check your water pump - it might be f*cked (very bad), or you might have a blockage in your cooling system which is stopping the water from circulating (not so bad).

Eliminate the variables one-by-one. Fill up your radiator and squeeze the bottom hose - if the water level drops then your radiator should be clear of blockages. If not - perhaps the radiator is blocked and needs to be flushed/cleaned?

Did you have this problem with your old radiator?
