Nice work, why didn't you go for the all out high boost tune?

We were going to tune it to about 7k and 15 psi but because of all the problems we had we ran out of time, there were other ppl waiting to get on the dyno so we had to call it a day.
For the run in im just going to go for alot of mountain runs varying load and rpm, with some wot blasts as well.
you don't 'baby' new engines!
agreed

congrats on the dyno figure mate, im sure there is plenty to come out of it in future tunes! I just read about your head gasket ordeal; why did you/engine builder decide to go copper gasket instead of something like Cometic? Any benefits?
Cheers,
Alex
thanks Alex.
Reason we used the copper gasket again was because the head was allready o-ringed, otherwise i would have used a mls.

well i finally drove my car for the first time today, feels great, much more responsive than i thought it was going to be. It feels like its got nearly as much midrange torque as my old 2.5L GT3040 wrx, im amazed, its absolutley nothing like it was before, not even comparable. From 4K up it starts to build boost then before you know it its on the limiter i think i need another thuosand rpm to play with. I was anticipating needing an exhaust housing change to the .63 but the .82 seems to work well. The new wheels and rubber feel great too, with the 19's you could actually tell the car was struggling with those big heavy pos dinner plates, now it is light and has tonnes more grip.

AWESOME!!! Glad you are finally having some enjoyment from it. 4G63 FTW Take it you arent going back to a wrx lol. Wait til you get some real RPM and boost into it, this thing is going to wake up big time.

Installed my STRI gauges and had a guy i know modify the center console to fit them. Pretty happy with the quality they look every bit as good as the defi's i had but alot cheaper. They have peak/recall and warning settings but no playback, which is ok i hardly used it anyway. Also got a slimline davies craig as there was no fan on it before except for the aircon fan which doesnt really help much.
Went to the dyno on Friday for a pump gas tune but had dramas with the engine cutting out at high rpm, its like the ignition completley cuts out momentarily. We've checked the MSD CDI and that seems to be ok, I need to go through the car now and have a good look at the wiring, hopefully its something simple. Ive got a spare CAS to test (thanks todd) so ill give that a go, just a process of elimination i supose until we find the prob. Bloody annoying as i really wanted to see what the car could do, it was making good power before it started taking a dump. It was making 400whp on 18psi when it would rev out cleanly with a nice powerband to 9k, pretty fun so far but lets see what another 10psi will do haha

Ok so we tried a new CAS today and it made no difference, the cut out seems to be load/boost/vibration related as the car drives ok at all other times with no hicups. Only time it cuts is when your at WOT or close to it. The engine will rev up to 7k+ driving with light loads. Were going to try a few things tomorrow, anyone got any ideas in the meantime? HELP lol
here's a few camera phone ones for now, excuse the quality.

Can't remember if you mentioned it, but was voltage or anything dropping when it was breaking down?
