well its probably about time i did a bit of an update of the progress. Things have been going pretty well, with the interior all done bar fuel and brake lines. Ive also strengthed up and repainted new front and rear subframes, so ill put them in tomorow.
This was the enine bay after i finished painting it, also started to remove all the masking tape etc.
next i did the wiring loom i dont have any pics of the loom going it, but it was a stuff around as ever! I did manage to chop out alot of stuff i didnt need however.
as a part of the loom, i re did the dash panel with all the switches for stuff like spots, fan, terratrip, intercom etc.
I also flocked the dash with a suade covering, im very happy with the results and it only cost about 30 bucks all up.
dash went in with out to many problems, as you can see ive removed all the vents, and below the dash removed all the heater, fan venting etc, now i just run a fan de-mister, saved a heap of weight in the process. Ive also mounted the seats.
the last project was mounting the new hydraulic hand brake, in the end i had to weld up a little bracket and then weld that to the shifter mounting, ive also had to modify the shifter to give clearance of the hand brake so it can get into 5th and reverse, just was a matter of cutting the shifter then welding in an angled peice. it feels like its in a really nice spot and the handbrake is in the perfect position now
i just need to connect up some of the wires that still are hanging down, and ofcourse make up the lines for the brakes.
the next project will be go get stuck into this..
not sure how much im going to do with it yet.
cheers
Lewis

Are you just going to tap into your rear brake lines for the hydro or are you going to add extra small callipers to the rear so it is independent to the factory brake system?
I'm thinking of making up a balance bar brake setup for my rally car, what bias adjustment do you use Lewis?

im just going inline, as ive ditched the stock handbrake. No Bias ajustment at this stage, but a balancebar set up would be good, so id be keen to see how you go.

It might be a bit down the track for me yet. I've got to get the car finished and registered first. I would expect that the Dept of Transport inspectors will have hard enough time with the cage, let alone a balance bar brake setup .

i did the dash myself, the suade material is availible at spotlight, and just stuck it down with some spray on glue, and some trim glue in the corners.
the handbrake is $399 and they are availible from revolution racegear. Didnt cost me anything (other than steel) to do the shifter and the mounting bracket as i made it myself.
cheers

the aim is to have it tuned by the end of feb, to go testing in march on gravel, and probbaly do mt alma as a tarmac test in april, there also is some club rallysprints i want to do in april.
we're working on it monday, so if your not doing anything come past.
Im not sure of the preload settings George, ive just said to Mike, gravel tight please.. this will be the first time using a mechanical rear, as it had a viscous in it..

okay.. quick update....
ive done a bit of a shufle around and moved the old shell into the old shed.. the new car has lots of room now..
ive made up a custom mounting plate and a custom push rod for the brakes.. to delete the brake booster... this is so the pedal is nice ad consitanly hard.. and also to stop the antilag sucking the brake vaucume assist away.. so you are pushing against 20 psi before the brakes even start working....
also had new fuel lines made up.. they are all fitted in now.. just gotta put the fuel tank back in..
ive had to also mount in a brake bias ajuster, as im not using the factory split front to rear, as the hydraulic handbrake is in the way.. will be good to be able to play with the bias settings..
got the firebomb back in too.. much better location now however..
Im going to spend sunday finishing rebuilding the rear diff, and also pressing in new wheelbearings.. car should be rolling in a week or so.. cant wait
cheers
