okay update time then.. things are progressing pretty well, infact the last main things that still need doing are just brake lines, gearbox rebuild and then motor in... I spent the other weekend painiting pannels, so its looking alot more like an evo again.. also put all the rear end in and the car is rolling.. (also made new bash plate mount.. sitting under the front of the car..
I welded in a patch in the rear quarter to cover the hole left from the aerial for the radio (the shell is a GSR spec unfortunatly, not RS) its all patched now and primed ready for the vynal graphics to go over the top..
ive also started connecting up the dash switches, finished plubing in fuel lines and lines for the firebomb... interior is very close to done..
I was bored today so mounted the incar camera.. just got to finish making a bracked to hold the unit its self..
this is the next set of goodies to go in (thanks to Mike Dale).. will make service ALOT easier..
finally started making up the new 3" dump back exhaust.. rear section is all done.. ill do the rest once the motor is back in.. im very happy with the results.. alot cheaper than an exhaust shop doing it..(should do the full system..3" mandrel bent straight pipe" for under $200)
will post up further progress in the week. cheers Lewis
Have you mounted the tubes in the rails (to suit the stands) yet Lewis? I was thinking about doing that also on my car but haven't tried to tackle it yet.

yeh not mounted yet.. still have that to look foward to..
first event to run the car is the Mt.Alma hillclimb on april 18&19 , we're running as a camera car/ taking people for rides... i want to have a gravel test day or 2 before then however..
First major event is Adelaide Hills tarmac rally, which is also 1st round of the SA rally championship on May 31st (i think)
Dog box or just straight cut gears Lewis?
Looks too good to go and get it dirty .

Unfortunately box broke after third stage wouldnt shift. So lewis is currently pulling it out to get ready for ROSA in 4 weeks. other than that it looked really good on its first competitive outing and posted fast times.
I know ive been a bit slack updating this, but we've done two events now in the car..
The first was Round 1 of the SARC the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally. Was a great event and a goodshake down of the car as it was first time driving it.. but we blew an intercooler pipe on the first stage that lost us 2 minutes.. so we finished 13th outright, the stage times were in the top 5 or 6 for the event so that was good at least..
outcar here - Incar here:
Next event was last weekend - the Walky 100 Roberstown Rally - first time on gravel in the new car and firs time for me driving for about 14 months.. it all comes back pretty quick (especially when the first corner of the first stages is pretty well flat in 5th gear!!)
All was going really well after the firs two stages we were sitting 4th outright and had just gone =3rd fastest on SS2.. but it wasnt to be as towards the end of Stage 3 somthing selector related in the gearbox broke, and could only find 5th.. we drove out the stage and parked it as it had locked up in 5th and we couldnt keep going like that..
As david mentioned ive got the box out and started stipping it last night, hopefully will be all back togeather mid next week ready to go back in before Rally SA at the start of August..
Incar from a very very wet and muddy Roberstown is here:
SS1- SS2- (the pic Dan took is from the end of SS1, and watch for the really nasty jump at 2m30s in SS1 - a few cars crushed the bottom rad support landing on their nose at this jump!!)
Out car is here from SS1 at Roberstown:
We are at 3m11s in this video, also keep and eye out for the Vr4 at .57s in the video - thaks Garry Brown and Mike Dale (blackvr)
Big thanks to David & Travis for their help (as ever) and also big thanks to Mike Dale, who has done wonders!! so to all the SA boys go up and say hi to him if you havnt the workshop is really looking good!
Way overdue for an update.... Since the last update we've had Rally SA... started like this...
ended like this..
We were pretty lucky, was flat over a crest in 4th gear and and we didnt have the 6 right after the crest noted propperly.. was a fast but pretty soft roll, we got caught up in some fence wire that stopped it going over again..
So i had to get a hurry on to fix it as we had an event 5 weeks later (last saturday)
So with a big thanks to Paul (265T) we managed to fix it all and give it a paint and have it all back to its former glory in around 3-4 weeks..
Next up was giving it a paint, i decided to change the color to a slightly lighter red.. spend a few days prepping it and then sprayed it..
the final result looked somthing like this..
just need some new vents and it needs a propper polish..

we took it out for a round of the SA clubman rally series on saturday, and had some very sideways and slippery fun, however i think we've done a headgasket, and had some mega overheating issues every stage the temp guage was almost off the end.. and that was even with fitting an ASI alloy radiator.. So its motor out this week for a rebuild (its due anyway) ready for the 25th october..
