Exhaust Size
#1
Posted 03 November 2008 - 07:38 AM
So I want to make my car a quite bit noisier as it's pretty quiet at the moment and am wondering what would be the best size exhaust to do this? I would like it to be loud but not so loud that I can't hear myself think or hear the stereo.
opinions or advice would be appreciated!
PS. It's a 93 GSR

welcome to team4g katelyn, good to see some new people on the forums. got any pics of ya gsr? anyways a 2.5inch or a 3 inch exhaust will make the car louder and help bring boost on alot faster. have you seen the new 'varex' exhaust systems, the noise/flow is adjustable by remote.

Hi
sounds great, how about the price?
I'm not too sure of my budget yet, definitely under a 1000 tho!

bolt on cat back systems can be had for under 1000 just finding them is the key.

A-HA-HA-HA!! That's gold!
Kate - you should be able to find a bolt on exhaust system that will give your car a bit more of an exhaust note on this forum. If you're only after noise and perhaps a tiny bit of a power gain, a 2.25-2.5" catback exhaust system with a decent muffler will certainly do that for you and shouldn't set you back too much $$$.
Failing that - just pinch the one off your dad's GSR....

mate she got the car almost given to her ......somethings you have to do yourself to fully appreciate themwell Katelyn, your dad's been on this and other forums stateing how many half cuts, GSR's and spare parts he has for sale so tell him not to be a scrooge and at least hook you up with a catback at least lol

If you just want noise, a canon style fart can on the arse end of your stock exhaust will do the trick.

Yea well this is somethin that I wanna do for myself!
Dad help's with everythin I ask for help with, and I'm sure if he had a spare exhaust he would give it to me, but I looked and he doesn't have one...but he does have 4 gsr's/evo's, a 2ltr 4g63 engine and a couple of evo body's and about a million other parts for lancers and corolla's lying around that I can have if I ask or them but no exhaust!
So I guess you mean he's telling the truth on all these other forums...and how would you know anyway unless you also were a member of these forums...nothing wrong with joining more than one is there...do you always fish in the same place?
As for him being a scrooge; I doubt it since he brought me the car, but thanks for your input.

Nobody's having a go at your old man. One of the things you'll find on this forum (in particular on this forum!) is that the different people who post on here have different views on sarcasm and humour. Learn to take it in your stride/on your chin and just enjoy what this group of people have to offer.
If you're only chasing a note to your exhaust then GSRWRC's advise is probably the most feasible and cost effective option.
And Brian - she's dobbed you in mate... plenty of spare parts floating around huh...

and yes guys there are a few bits and pieces in the shed. you just cant have too many spares can you?
I have a lead on a 3" second hand ....but the thought of a three inch equipped car idling down at 2am outside my window doesnt thrill me.

I can't blame you for not wanting to hear a 3" at 2am (try it idling with 272/272 cams!!) My neighbors were ready to unleash fury on me before I got my Varex muffler installed. Now it's quieter than stock!
lol are 272's really that much louder? nk said ther were to.
looks lik ill have to line a varex up to when i put my cams in.
Thats the main reason i got cams anyway was for the lumpy idle
