well i've ruled out plugs, leads and fuel so time to look into clutch/gearbox etc...
plugs, leads and filter made it idle a bit smoother (fuel filter was 70 000kms old oops) and it drove ok for a while but the more it warmed up the more is shuddered. it was going away then coming back. had a mechanic look at it and it's got him stuffed to. he said it felt like a collapsed engine mount but since it wasn't doing it all the time is shouldn't be that.
time to get under the car and see what i can find out i think!

yeah it goes away when ya put the clutch in or back right off the accelerator. i'm changing the plugs and leads this weekend and i'll see how that goes.... if it is the driveline what do youthink would be the most likely source of the problem?

thanks guys

from about 1500 upwards... doesnt happen in first, only from second on... havent really tested it over 60 as i havent driven far from home lately, and only under acceleration. I'll rip the plugs out this weekend and have a look but i don't have a gap checker thing and my old man took his when he moved to qld. are the standard gaps on the inside of the bonnet? i lost my workshop manual when i moved houses last time.
