#338703 Once you go Black.... RVR

Posted by TBOWGN on 01 September 2017 - 09:49 AM

Hey guys...

After selling my last white built RVR early this year i thought i was done... However i still found myself scouring over Gumtree on a daily basis just in case something worthy showed up...  That changed pretty quickly when i saw this nugget for sale with roof rust, running issues and needing a new clutch... I just couldnt resist another manual HSG, my 6th one and the first one in Black too!

Also only had 104,000k's on it... And from the condition of the Recaro's and the rest of the interior it's one of the neatest ive ever had :)

From the pics uploaded by the guy selling it on Gumtree i was expecting a pretty average car, especially as he advertised a black manual one for a grand.... But when i got there, i couldnt believe my luck :)

This is how it was when arriving

IMG_2397_1.jpg

Pretty good as a starting project...

And with a little better lighting

IMG_3708_1.jpg

The plan is to make it super neat as the last few, so it's in middle of having its guts ripped out and repainting the whole interior... Highly recommended and pretty easy as they commonly fade after 20 odd years in the usual spots...

Full respray and rust repair is happening this month too....

The wheels got a bit of love.... After a few colour changes, the final choice was the bottom left

Apart from an air pod and quiet cat back 2.5, engine is stock standard, not even a boost gauge which is refreshing...

Unsure of what the plan is there just yet, just keep things semi standard and enjoy some every day 4G driving with comfort and reliability

Thanks for looking :)

#333967 RVR's are becoming rare!

It's sort of true tho... Running manuals are definitely rare... Give it another 10 years, they'll probably be double the price they are now

Sooooo, finally put rego on it and drove it around yesterday, felt sooo weird after 2 and a half years, but in a good way haha...

End result was it being tuned at 191kw at 17psi... Not what i was after, but its only got a 2.5 inch dump and near stock intercooler piping so ive got to get that sorted before i up the boost...

Urgently needs a wheel alighnment so ive hardly pushed it so far.. Still, feels amazing to drive after all this time :)

How good are 272 cams? Sound like a rotor hahaa

#329959 RVR SSG - Fast Camper/Child Mover

Posted by TBOWGN on 14 May 2016 - 01:22 PM

Sooooo, it's that time again....

My near immaculate 1994 Sports Gear RVR is up for grabs

Price $4500 - Slightly negotiable, but no silly offer considering it's condition

Ive had it for over and year, picked it up in Brisbane at 116,000 k's and its now at about 143,000 k's. I bought it from a man who's parents just died, and they had it for over 10 years as a grocery picker-uperer... And considering ive had 4 others previous RVR's, i should know, the condition was incredible... And still is.

For example, most RVR front driver seats have a tear in them and feel saggy, however these seats are still solid with no tears whatsoever.

As i do alot of driving up and down the coast chasing waves ive spent alot of money going over nearly everything to make sure it was 100% reliable.  There was no cutting corners, everything ive bought for this car has been top of the range gear.

Just bought 6 months Rego on the 12th May, will come with a RWC

List of things replaced old for new over the last year:

  • Metal Cometic head gasket, plus shaved/machined head

  • Water pump

  • New timing belt

  • Thermostat

  • Battery

  • 4 matching new tyres (still 60-70%)

  • New Radiator and cap

  • NGK Spark Plugs

  • Radiator hoses

  • Steering racks

  • Steering boots

  • All new engine mounts all round

  • New air con gas

  • New brake pads all round and machined disks

  • Rear KYB shocks

  • Front EVO7 heavy duty shocks and springs

  • Front adjustable camber plates

  • Pedders wheel balance and alignment plus extra camber adjustment with the EVO7 suspension

  • Fuel filter

  • Standard fitting K&N air filter

  • HID headlights, parkers, rear tailights and reverse lights. Plus interior lights

  • Plus more that i have probably forgotten about

Car has been serviced at my mechanics who has looked after me for over 10 years, and i personally replace the oil and filters every 7-8000 k's from home.

Have receipts for all major work and parts

Inside i have replaced a few things, including:

  • Kenwood Double din head unit

  • 10 speaker system throughout the car including 6 speaker 3 way split system at the front and 4 speaker splits at the rear

  • Small amp under drivers seat

  • Sound deadner in the front door panels

  • Phone holder

  • Newer style HSG upgraded rear pull-out seats for the rear

  • Car was entirely detailed when i got it and mostly stays that way

  • Car is washed at least every week or fortnight at the latest

Comes with genuine BSS rims, which were apparently a optional extra for new cars in Japan back then.

Car still has genuine glass panels from Japan, including Japanese reflective tint on the rear panels. Nearly impossible to see in and ive never been hassled by anyone about it

Car is AUTO, and the gearbox (apparently) has had a full gearbox service from the previous owners... Cant be confirmed but it drives as smooth as any new car ive driven

As it's EVO3 running gear ive only ran it on 98 RON Premium fuel

Handleing wise, out of the 5 previous ones ive had this one handles the best, with a combination of the EVO7 suspension and low k's.

Not modified in any other way or boosted any more than standard, doesnt even have a boost guage

Performance wise, its a pretty quick car without trying. The auto slows the initial take off down but once moving puts you back in the seat fairly well considering its all stock standard

Basically the car runs perfectly and after all the effort ive put in should be trouble free for next owner for quite some time.

The only reason why im selling it is my other RVR which ive spent the last 2 years building is ready to be put back on the road, and even though id love to, there's no point in running 2 RVR's...

Bad Points: The usual rust spots are apparent on the roof and also bonnet. I was quoted $600 to get it all cleared up and repainted, but havnt bothered.

Everything electrical works in the whole car apart from the mirror switch, again something i havnt bothered about, it may just be a simple plug or fuse that need replaced

Previous owner backed into a post and bent the rear bar in a fraction, hardly noticeable and again something i havnt bothed fixing

The old keyless entry is intermittent, and works when it feels like it.

Apart from the rust spots on the top roof lining and the rear bar nudge the panels on the car are like new, a few scratches but definitely no dents, and for a 22 year old car the paint work is in amazing condition... As i work from home, it's parked undercover most of the day and night

Ideally i would like to see this car go to an enthusiast like myself or at least someone who will look after it, as this one is, arguably, one of the best standard running SSG RVR's in Australia

Located on the Gold Coast, can arrange a test drive anytime.

Call or text me on 0422878114 for more details.

I run a transport brokerage too, so can organise cheaper interstate transport for anyone interested in buying it elsewhere

#329687 Slotted Polyurethane Mad Polly Engine Mounts now ready

Posted by TBOWGN on 04 May 2016 - 12:45 PM

Hey guys, after selling alot of my solid mounts to crew all over the world with all sorts of cars, ive had alot of positive feedback from just about every customer which im really stoked about

However the only bad point with the design was the usual vibration from having these sort of mounts... Some people actually like it, however alot of people, including myself,  would prefer to have less vibration if they could.

For those who dont know, i really only started making them for my RVR build around 2 years ago, and then unintentionally sort of grew from there.

Let me know if i am spamming too much, but im pretty happy to announce the new 'Slotted' PU Insert design is available as of today :)

Normally i sell them for $65 plus post on eBay, but for all members i can do them for $55 each and ill cover postage throughout Australia (overseas is extra).

Models the Mad Polly cover now are Mitsubishi EVO 1-3, EVO 4-9, FTO, RVR, VR4, Magna's, Mirage's, Lancer's, Proton Gti's, Jumbuck's, Toyota 4age Corollas, Levin's, ST204/5 Celica's and Hyundai Sonata, plus more on the way...

Any questions, just ask...
