In Topic: Evo 1 engine - balance shaft symptoms?

02 July 2008 - 02:16 AM

ok i've just finished my rebuild on my evo 2 motor and took it for a test drive last nite.

i'm now experiencing vibration to the whole car when it gets close to the 5000rpm mark.

i know that the timing were all done spot on, so wat could it be?

sounds a bit like the same sympton

Good stuff ^^^ (except the balance shafts  :P ) and a Cometic headgasket too I hope :)

haha yea i was tossing up if i shud keep them or not. but yea decide to keep them. think i'll be using the ACL race series headgasket that comes with the kit. got told they are ok. this build is just costin too much and i've run out of money to do everything. so might budget a bit for now.

the block and reco'ed head will be done by a machine shop up here. but i will be putting the motor back together.

the cost so far including the Haltech E8 ecu, the GT3082R turbo will be around $9g (i think, or maybe more) so far.

will need more funds for exhaust manifold, ex-wastegate, and fuel system. i've run out of money unfortunately

so at the mo it'll be rebuilt and put back on the road with standard turbo for running the motor in.

ok cool, so the plan for my motor after speaking to a few ppl will be built as follows:

JE forged pistons (+20 thou)
Eagle Rods
ACL race series big end and main bearings
ARP head stud and main stud bolt kit
New Balance shaft bearings (keeping the balance shafts in there)
Reco'ed head
Tomei cam gears
All new tensioner pulley sets
Power enterprise timing belt
Gates balance shaft belt
New oil pump and water pump
Exedy Ceramic button clutch

motor will be fully balanced :D
