Pretty sure he still has it. Such a mint example. Good to see you put the time, cash and effort in Carl. Lets just hope some drop-kick doesn't wreck it if they buy it.

#336309 F.S: 3.545 EVO 3 Gearbox in VR4 Case, Steel Tranfer Case, ACT Clutch & Fl...

Posted by CLuTZ on 19 March 2017 - 10:33 PM

I thought I would post this stuff on here before I offered it up to the kiddies on Facebook and dropkicks on Gumtree!

After careful consideration I have decided to go Auto in my Mirage Cyborg build. I spent tons of time and money on this setup and even went as far as travelling all the way to Adelaide from Melbourne (twice) to get this gearbox and transfer case built by one of, if not the most experienced and passionate Mitsubishi 4WD transmission builders in Australia, Mike Dale (blackvr). I still have receipts for all work carried out.

Please read these specs carefulyl so that this box/ratio etc suits your application!

E39A Galant VR4 W5M33 Gearbox Case with low km EVO 3 rotating assembly/gearset, rebuilt with new bearings and seals
Steel shift forks, double syncros
VR4 3.545 ratio front diff
Welded centre diff
23 spline output shaft

VR4 Steel Headed Transfer Case
23 spline
Rebuilt with new bearings, seals and yoke

$3500 (will throw in a 4L tin OEM Diaqueen fluid and give them both a coat of AlumaBlast for free)

ACT 6-puck solid centre clutch disc
ACT 'MaXX Extreme' 2900lb pressure plate
ACT 'Streetlite' 6-bolt 4WD Flywheel
OEM release bearing and pivot ball

$1000 delivered

CD5W Libero GT 5spd 3.545 complete rear diff head to suit solid rear ends. Suits C73A GSR/Cyborg W5M33 or Jumbuck conversions. Pretty much needle in a haystack here in Australia.

$400 delivered

I also have a 2.848 rear diff centre from a manual C73A if anyone is interested. I have a 2.848 front diff to match it too.

I also have a brand new Fidanza flywheel to suit a 4G64 FWD

$150 delivered

Surely there's some quick FWD's up in Malaysia/Indo/PH?

The Puerto Rico scene is insane. I love their passion for RWD Starlets. Reminds me of NZ.

#334352 3.545 vr4 gearbox w-Libero diff

Posted by CLuTZ on 19 November 2016 - 04:37 AM

If you haven't assembled your gearbox yet then definitely swap them over internally. I got my gearbox built by blackvr (Mike Dale) over in South Australia. Unfortunately it wasn't until it was already assembled that I found out they were different. On 4g61t.org I read that you can cut and weld. For me, this isn't really ideal but is going to have to do for now.

FYI, I had the VCU in my '88 GSR's KM221 fuck out on me which gave me symptoms of clutch slipping. 2 clutches later, I realised what was going on and decided that unless I went Auto (where's the fun in that??) that I needed a W5M33 instead.

#332102 Help on my build

Posted by CLuTZ on 01 August 2016 - 09:02 AM

Eproms are pretty old school aye. Unless you know someone burning them or are doing it yourself, I would look at using an EVO 7+ ECU instead. So many more features, functions and tuning capability. Not to mention every Tom, Dick and Harry tunes them these days

Your setup sounds similar to mine- which made 221kw on 21psi. I wanted to run a few extra PSI but had boost control issues.  I would look at upgrading your clutch (if you have one) suspension and tyres for anything over 200kw rather than trying to make it go faster. TD05's come alive over 20psi. IMO they are one of the best turbos you can have for a street car.

Steve Murch (MSE - Motorsport Engineering) is a turbine guru from N.Z and did amazing things with TD05's back in the day. He also did tech write ups for a while for NZ Performance car and was a major contributor on NZMMC
