Hi again. I was wondering? The other week I was messing around under the bonnet, and just moved the boost solenoid. One of the air hoses came off. When I looked the plastic had snapped and was stuck in the hose. I had to cut it and put it back on what plastic was left.
My question is. If I replace it? Should I just get another oem one or upgrade to like a grim speed? Or something? Me ecu is factory, planning maybe ecmlink. Would a grim speed one work on factory ecu?
I'd rather not buy another oem one, only to find later I need to upgrade it.
Also, a guy at a autobarn shop mentioned that turbo smart ebc, would replace the oem solenoid. ( I know there not the best place to get advice.)
I was thinking of getting a gfb force 2.
Cheers

squeal off boost?? Very annoying!

Hi again.
I've tried to search about this but found nothing. Anyway. When I'm driving holding my speed, not moving the go pedal at all. So holding revs and speed. There is a loud squeal, almost like worn breaks. It will squeal until I move the accelerator up or down. Even just the smallest amount. It happens in every gear. It's very annoying!!
Any advice would be great?
Cheers

Abs not turning off
18 July 2014 - 01:28 AM
Hi hi. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem??
The other day I got in my car just to move it. The abs light flashed then went off, it then just came on and stayed on. I thought it was strange. I stopped the car and could hear what sounded like a pump running. I started and stopped the car again, but it kept making the noise. I checked under the bonnet and found the abs thingy ( I think that's it's technical name) was vibrating. I tried taking out the fuse for the abs but nothing happened. The only way it stopped was to disconnect the battery. When I connected it the next day, the vibrating had stopped but the abs light stays on.
I've taken it to auto sparky, but they can't find the fault. They think a relay failed. And think the abs thingy (pump) has shit itself, as it's only ment to run for a few seconds.
Any advice would be great. Any idea of the cost of a new abs thingy.
Cheers

New to mods chip or ecu
12 June 2014 - 02:57 AM
Hello. Firstly, I've been reading the forum for ages. A lot of great info on here!! My wife is sick of me being on it all the time. I've finally signed up.
I have a late 94 gsr. I've had it since 97. Not many mods done so far, just the normal. Exhaust from turbo back, pod filter. Just recently a plazmaman intercooler. Wow the stock one was tiny!! Other then an evo 3 kit it's stock. Only done 185k.
I'm not planning on having the fastest gsr in the world. But do want it to go harder. It's never been on a track or the 1/4. But I hope that changes in the future.
Anyway. I'm looking at getting an evo 2 turbo fitted at the next service. As the exhaust manifold is missing a bolt and the gasket is leaking. Making a high pitched squeal when off boost driving. Very annoying. I figured while the manifold is off I may as well change the turbo.
As I am no way a mechanic the work will be done by an evo specialist.
A question I have, and I know there are a lot of options. Is regarding the ecu? I am planning on getting 510 or 560cc injectors, and better afm. The workshop is recommending I get an evo 7 ecu fitted. I understand it's fully tuneable. But that means dino and that means $$$. I do understand to get the most out of my car dino tuning is best.
I've also read on the forum about ecmlink, meek chips. And putting an evo 3 ecu in. Each have there pros and cons. I like the fact that ecmlink and meek chip I get to keep my ecu. So everything will work. I hope. And the evo 3 ecu is kinda plug and play but cooling fan issues. But not tuneable unless it's chipped. The ecmlink seems to have a lot of options and tune ability for latter mods. Does it need to be dino tuned though? And I'm not sure my mechanics know it, but I read it's very easy to use. I spoke to meek. He said he can tune the chip to what mods I have, and it's simple plug and play. But to do any latter tuning I need to get an old palm pilot and leads. But the software is easy to find. I really don't think the workshop will know this chip.
So in short any advice on a value for money upgrade?
Cheers
