#278399 grinding bottom end?

Posted by PROGSR on 11 June 2013 - 06:06 AM

is it a metallic sound, like knocking or more a rubbing /scrapping / grinding noise like you said?

My mate had a similar grinding noise on the passenger side of his vr4 ..it turned out to be the harmonic balancer spining off its seal and rubbing against the chassis rail which soon after caused major problems.

Personally I wouldnt be driving it around anymore until you can a get someone of profession to come over and check it out, to determine the problem seeing it relates to oil pressure and engine sounds... better safe than sorry if you can avoid further damage, do so.

#277238 My Leggy (the new daily)

Posted by PROGSR on 21 May 2013 - 08:29 AM

This is my 1998 series 1 Legnum VR4 5sp - Meister Blue in color ...

It was originally imported into the country back in 2010 through Iron Chef imports by one of my mates for his Mrs to drive.

Whilst in their posession, it was fitted with a series 2 front b/bar and grille ... a set of E5 OZ racing wheels and lastly the best of all, upgraded front and rear Brembo brake conversion from a E9 :)

Since taking ownership in Feb ... its become the new daily... I have changed the ugly woodgrain dash and gearshift console surround from a facelift model... now silver/grey in color. Also replaced the big Nardi s/wheel with a E6 Momo wheel featuring blue stitching to match the exterior.

Future mods/plans >>>

Fujitsubo catback exhaust, ARC I/cooler, hard piping, flash tune ECU, optional Recaro's, opt interior s/steel sill covers, opt rear bar/qtr pods, lowered suspension upgrade and EVO X MR BBS 18's.

*(pics were taken prior to the purchase).

#275273 RVR suspension, handling and equipment

Posted by PROGSR on 18 April 2013 - 03:01 AM

Trying to make the best of a bad situation, my kidneys are crushes as I sail the seven seas, roll bars would be my first investment if an aftermarket option was available..

Being a former HSG owner ...I hear and know the cry of you guys for better options.

Had my RVR back in 2006 to 07 when they had just came along as a fresh phase of the import scence into OZ.
At that time I got some custom Kings springs made off my originals fitted with only the standard shocks. It handled like a weapon around the twisties being so flat on the road... but I guess it was due to the cars suspension life having done only 40,000kms at the time when I purchased it.
The same issue was running neg 2 in the rear but I didnt keep it long enough to find out the effects of tyre wear.

Now to possibly solve your sway bar issue... I recently got a custom sway bar made for my MK1 Suzuki GTi... it was shaped different to allow clearance for a set of cultus extractors to be fitted to it. I simply supplied them with a diagram with specs of the custom bar I wanted and bingo they made it for me. Your dilemma is so not .... only to just make a thicker sway bar based off the original. All someone has to do is supply an original bar to them so they have something to work off.

This is the link of the company >>> http://www.mako.com.au/
The guy who makes the bars for them is from the selby family ....a former recognised business of many years known as SELBY swaybars. My application was a success. I hope you get can your results too.

#228959 Parting Out Evo Satria.

Posted by PROGSR on 12 April 2011 - 01:07 AM

Any interior goodies for the satria? Looking for bits for my GTI. No rear strut brace? And what's required for the EVO caliper conversion?

Cheers :)

*** for the EVO brake caliper conversion you need to change the front hubs, to be able to run the bigger disc setup.... because of the PCD difference, the GTI is 4 x 100 and the EVO is 4 x 114.3...
