Head tourque specs

14 August 2015 - 03:02 AM

Hi guys, I mentioned this in the head swap options post but a fresh thread would be more appropriate, an hopefully get me some answers! :P so I have a 4g15 carbureted single cam 12 valve, (CB2A chassis) Iv FINNALY got a head for the wee beast (another 4g15 from the wreckers, it stung me $300 :o) Iv found a manual online (http://www.mitsubish...wee9520/11A.pdf) an they're saying to tighten to 49 nm then loosen then tightened to 20 nm. Then a further 90 degrees an another 90 degrees again. Can anyone confirm this? I'm only unsure as in the manual they are doing this on a twin cam and as stated above mine is only single. Does it make a difference? Getting head skimmed now as I'm typing this an will be putting in car tomorrow so any help would be much appreciated :)

Head swap options

18 July 2015 - 01:37 AM

Hi guys, me again, except not regarding the old zr4 anymore, she's been sold!

I now own a 95 lancer, has a wee baby 4g15 in it, we picked the car up for cheap as chips knowing head gasket needed replacing, but when I took head off there was zero sign of head gasket failure. I suspect the head is cracked an know for sure stem seals are leaking and valve guides have a heap of play plus valves aren't seating proper.. Instead of paying to get it pressure tested then replace all of the above an any potential cracks, I would rather just replace the entire head. Now here comes the problem... I can't find any heads for sale specific for my 4g, so I was wondering if there are any other options, Iv done googling an found twin cam conversion is possible but they all seem to be for fuel injected series (Iv got carburettor) can anyone shed any light on this? Can I get a twin cam (or even single) efi head an run it with carburettor, will it bolt up without issue etc etc

The specs
4g15
Single cam
12 valve
Carburettor

Thanks in advance.
Ps, I have no idea what chassis code the lancer is so thought best to put in here

Replacement Alternator Options

10 June 2015 - 09:26 AM

As the title states, I'm looking for options to replacing the alternator. current alternator/regulator is no longer doing its job. Putting voltmeter on battery posts is showing no charge when car is on idle (12.4 volts) and spiking up to 17 volts when bringing revs up at a stand still. I'm not looking to upgrade the alternator, i just want a replacement so i can get this car up an running again!

I have a few options down an the wreckers from RVR turbo to a lancer with the 4g93 an a pile more.

iv had a hunt an none of the numbers on the alternators are matching up with the dead one iv pulled out of my car.

Iv read in acouple of my many searches that there are some with external regulators?? (find it hard to believe, but I have to ask the 4G pros on here)

Now to the details.

Mitsubishi Eterna Zr4 (basicly a VR4 with afew extras)

4g63t

Alternator has the following numbers on it- MD136338

                                                                  - A3T03493

12v (obviously lol) 65 Amp

So, basicly, is there anything i have to watch out? Plug type, Wiring issues, mounting issues etc etc

Thanks in advance and any help would be much appreciated!!

P.s, getting that alternator out really is a pain in the backside!! ALMOST as bad as sparkplugs on a subaru :P

Could anyone please help as to what a constant long tone means when checking ECU codes. Have looked but cant find any detail, as far as we know its an ECU related error but if anyone could help on what the error actually is would be much appreciated!
