Interestingly enough, there are quite a few languages that use double negatives to mean a positive... But according to a professor at my uni, no language uses a double positive to mean a negative, to which I replied "yeah right"

#305900 Turbo Ideas

+1 for holset with BEP (Bullseye Power) exhaust housing.
Oh and get an O2 housing with an external wastegate.
Turbo will set you back about $500 second hand (they are cheap to rebuild... Like $60 lol)
BEP housing will cost you roughly $350ish
O2 housing with external wastegate flange $400ish
Wastegate $300ish
It is a bolt-on turbo, should produce 20+ psi by 3500rpm (so stock like spool) and can produce around 300kw@wheels.

Want more power? Put the stock housing back on and get a twin scroll T3 manifold and you should get around 600hp out of it (by going twin scroll, you get same spool as the BEP housing) which makes it a GT35 competitor.
And unlike the gt turbos, it is easily rebuild able. Since it was designed for trucks as an OEM, you can get 250,000ks plus out of it before rebuilding.
Need more convincing, check out the DSM sites, they love holsets over there.

#301811 EVO VI ECU into CC GSR

ok... so I've finally remembered why you should run the evo 6 afm.

The EVO 6 maf can read more airflow and has a higher resolution for that airflow. So in affect, it has better tuning potential. Incidently the wiring is exactly the same, but the plug is different, so you will need to get the female plug as well, and just swap the wires over.

I believe that there is a special version of the maps you have to run if you are using an Evo 1-3 AFM, and that version is limited (I can't remember how, and the forum I got the info from - www.geekmapped.com - is down right now).
Also the biggest hassle will be if you don't run 560cc Evo V-VII injectors. getting this sorted properly in EcuFlash is a right bitch as its not just a case of plugging in the value for the new injectors.

My suggestion would be to run the Evo 6 AFM & 6-8 injectors. A side benefit is that the 6 AFM is round not oval, so pod filters a and piping don't need an adaptor lol

If you go to the Evo oz forums you can get an AFM & injectors easy (I got a 6 AFM & injectors for 200)
I would recommend flashing the tephra mod v7 file onto the ECU to be able to use cool functions like multiple fuel maps (have a low boost map tuned for fuel economy or have a 95ron map in case you are struck somewhere with no 100ron)

Also it is advisable to replace your knock sensor wi the version that came in the ECU's donor car (I.e. Evo 6 knock sensor for Evo 6 ECU, or Evo 8 sensor for 8 ecu).

Also you will need to wire in a OBD2 port.

Here is a closeup of the tag

IMG_20140130_043526.jpg

There is less than 0.5mm of shaft movement side to side (which is apparently normal for a journal bearing) and the impella doesn't come into contact with the housing, and none back and forward.

The Tial gate is genuine. Here is a close up of the top. Unfortuantely you can't make out the full serial number in the photo but it is SN12101437.

#274249 Later model crank, rods and pistons query

Posted by rvrftw on 03 April 2013 - 08:16 AM

Can a later model (i.e. evo 7) crank and rods and pistons be used in a evo 2 engine?
As I can get a complete forged kit to suit an evo 7 for a steal and was wondering if I could use it?
