I have been looking at this as well. There are a couple of good write ups on galant vr4 . Org but they all require dsm rear spindles ( or whatever they are called) which arent readily available in aus. I believe you can use a certain year magna hubs for the front Simone else on here should be able to clarify what year.

I am waiting for a 5 stud conversion setup to arrive right now.
I'm probably not going to end up using it though so I'll be looking to sell.
It's basically the front and rear hubs that you need to transfer your abs rings etc on to.

I'm curious as to where did you get your's from brisvr4?
From what i gather you have the easiest way is to get parts from a verada or the sorts? But this will only work for the fronts, and for the backs you have to mod your own? if anyone can shed a bit more light on this would be much appreciated.

With my jumbuck (same as Gsr) use tr magna 5 stud hubs and discs. Check spline count as there are 2 different hubs on magna or check my members ride thread. The bearing seals were different in the back of the knuckles so be gentle when removing as you may need to reuse them.

Easy way = drill
Hard way = DSM rear 5 stud hub. Once again bearings should be done also.
Keep in mind, not cheap to do bearings........ the bearings alone are quite pricey.

yup..
TR-TS shape Magna but with the 2.6lt 4g54 has the spline count you are looking for (manual FWD boxes match the Galant FWD so spline count matches)
magna's with the 3lt 6g72 has a bigger spline count. (they match spline count with the Twin Turbo GTO's)

Hi Guys, looking at doing this conversion also to my Eterna.I have had an idea that KR Verada front hubs can be used, would have to convert Cv's to suit.But i have also found out that the 3000 GTO, does run the same AWD running gear as the VR4, the VR4 and 3000 GTO have the same part numbers listing for the Center drive shaft bearing's from mitsubishi, can some one confirm this also?

OK so I spent some time at u-pullit today checking things out, as far as the knuckles go it looks like galant/2nd gen magnas have the same knuckle entirely, the tie rod mounts underneath, and while I didn't find one that had ABS it seems that there is space behind the hub for it as the galant hub.
The 3rd gen magna knuckles also look the same however they have wider brake caliper mounts - ie, 160mm ie will fit the brembos. The 2nd gen magna hubs - I wasn't aware that there were 2 different hub spline counts but it makes perfect sense, v6/ 4 cylinder hubs. HH vr4 and TR 4 cylinder magna have the same part number... and 6 cylinder 2nd and 3rd gen magnas also have the same part number.
So, my way of thinking is as follows - a sort of frankenstein front setup.
TE front knuckle
TR 4 cylinder hub.
Press the bearing out of the TE front knuckle, install the TR hub. 5 stud conversion which will fit brembos/3kgt brakes without brackets.
I can't see that they would literally change the steering knuckle between the 4 and 6 cylinder, it would just make no sense. I really should get one of each from u-pullit and see how it looks.
Edit : I just found the TR/TS service manual online, and the small brake (25 spline/256mm brake/14 in wheel) version of the magna has the same bearing size as the galant, and the 27 spline version has a the same external but different internal diameter. I reckon I'm right, will need to get a couple of knuckles and measure/ confirm.

Sounds good I was planning on going 5 stud using magna front hubs and then a set of prefacelift legnum calipers and 294mm discs. But brembos would be an awesome upgrade. I wonder what sort of size/offset rims would you need to clear brembos? because a lot of people have to run spacers to clear the 3kgt brakes least being 5 stud we would have more options I guess.

Seems to not be much of an issue? I think most of the issues people have with 3kgt calipers is that they want to run 16's for some reason.
Wouldn't the prefacelift legnum calipers be VR4 2 pots anyway with different brackets?
Also I've been looking into other possibilities, for example porsche 911/964 nonturbo brembos.. 130mm bolt spacing. Also the cadillac CTS-V brembos are the same spacing, and very cheap (around 150USD each new) however they are HUUUUUUUGE, and I suspect that disc rotor choice is not easy (they are huge and I would imagine getting the right rotor height isn't simple. I haven't really decided a direction yet and it's hard to find dimensions on the internet.
Ahh what else.. oh yeah lexus LS430's have radial mount rotors which, although they still require an adapter, it's a less dodgy adapter. (Added bonus, you can play with the location of the caliper to suit a specific rotor) And those calipers are also enormous, and fairly cheap.

the GTO calipers and disc's are my choice... (just cause they actually say Mitsubishi not a sticker that says Brembo, and they came free on my GTO wreck

although going twin piston rears will be interesting for our cars, as we dont use a inner brake drum, you would have to convert to evo rear end brake caliper set up....
Rim choice will be interesting, 5 stud is convenient, but spoke design is the biggest issue..
17X9.5 +22 and the spokes just clear by 3mm, no spacers..
also why your at it, might as well go to stainless steel brake lines...

i was looking at the cadilac calipers too, they look promising for us

Jayrome, the benefit of brembos is they're generally stiffer. Love brakes that feel really, really hard. The lexus LS430 calipers are also monobloc which makes them stiff as well, however adapters, meh, I'd much prefer a direct bolt on solution. But then again haven't driven a car with 3000gt brakes so they may well be very stiff. In all honesty that's probably what I will end up with anyway since at least I know that the calipers will work with mitsubishi offset rotors. It's hard to justify plopping down a few hundred dollars to "try out" something else.
The TE knuckle look identical to the earlier ones, the balljoint mounts in the bottom of the steering arm and they (I measured using a piece of metal, hah, I didn't go there with that in mind) seem to be the same overall dimensions, angle and length of steering arm looks the same as well. But of course I don;t physically have one to actually measure properly as of yet. We'll see I guess.

Yes standard 2 pots but brackets to suit 294mm rotor. Which is a cheaper and easier upgrade, you can just use evo 4 rotors I think. All though not as good an upgrade as brembos or 3kgt.
