Hi guys,

can anyone give me the part number or equiv number for the CAS on this please ?

it's for my '94 6 bolt 4g63 RVR SSG.

Thanks

Pete.

its a two part system in the RVR, you have the Cam Angle Sensor as pictured and the Crank Angle Sensor down by the crankshaft sprocket.

are you sure its the Cam Sensor thats gone and not the Crank?

they are a fairly reliable sensor, much more than the earlier VR4 style. if you've had a oil leak (cam/crank seal) dirt and grit and mess them up, otherwise it would be quite rare for them to fail.

not unheard of though, but have you checked everything else first?

Yes, SnapOn scanner come up Crank, and judging from the nissans i came from the picture i put up looks the right place. but if it's down by the crank, i need that part # please.

Engine looks pretty dirty, when i reached up under to have a look pretty oily and not very looked after ( purchased the car 2 weeks ago, hence the need to get it going before the wife kills me even more. )

So if anyone can give us a part number please i can get it going again.

its really is a bit odd,

i have seen similar codes thrown from weak battery during starting, failed coil packs, dirty/disconnected connections.

the crank/cam sensors are epoxy filled magnetic pick-up sensors, very stable and highly unlikely to fail (hence why they are used). They will fuck up if covered in grit, especially because they are magnitised and can collect all sorts of metal shavings.

i would loook every where else first, they are fairly easy to test while you have everything disassembled. if you have access to a snap-on OBD reader you should be able to work a multimeter.

i cant help will a part number sorry, i dont have CAPS installed. just get a second hand one from someone?

I've checked :

Fuel Pump ( bypassed at the 8 pin plug that the fuel relays come into and it turns on. )
ECi/Fuel Relay. ( held both relays shut and cranked car in case they were faulty ).
Took the immobiliser out ( thought it could be faulty )

Car has no spark at all, only cranks.

So got a mechanic to come round with a snap on reader and the LED that goes into the Injector plug hats. Diode didn't flash so no injector pulse which is commonly caused by ( from what i remember ) a failed cas. Also put a timing light onto the output lead to check, no flashing.

From what i can gather, it's either CAS or ECU. And judging by the shit on the motor, i'd be going CAS first, as the snap on reader said.

Crank Angle Sensor ( down by the crank shoots onto the pulley itself ) Part Number : CAS062 from Auto 1.

Timing Belt "B" is T168 Gates.
Timing Belt "A" is T167 Gates.

my Triton regularly throws the cam angle sensor code....but has never stopped because of it.

they are prone to attracting crap....just clean it and see it that helps.
