I have a 02 ce lancer stock manual non turbo with 150,000ks and full mitsi history. This is ment to be my reliable work hack It died on me monday night. I was giving way at an intersection, all clear go to cruise off n got about 3 metres n lost all power to engine. It probably wasn't even doing 2500rpm when it went. It wasn't violent and no odd mech sounding noises. The car still cranks and battery has good charge. Ive done some checks and found that I seen to have no power coming through the loom to cyl 3 and 4. Its not the coils as i have spark on 1 and 2. Switch the coils and have the same result. Anybody come across this before? Ive tried lookin on google but not found anyone with the same problem. Im thinking crank sensor or ignition module? Im at the stage of getting a tow truck n forking out th $ for a mechanic, but just trying my luck here as last resort. Any help much appreciated, Thanks

Sorry i should have said the set up. it has coil on plug from factory. 2 has a coil diectly on top that has a lead going to 1. 4 has coil on plug too with a lead goin to three. It had no spark coming from the coil on cyl 4 or th lead goin to 3. I switched the coils over them and still had the same issue.

i'm going to cuncur with jack and say it's the ignitor also it should try and run on only 2 sylinders so check that your getting an injector pulse for fuel

Did someone delete this link I sent or is my connection playing up?

There is no ignitor in your system. Sorry. Happy hunting.

Hey bud, my mrs had the same thing in hers, 2 things it could be are fuel pump, or alarm/ immobiliser

Verdict- you are all wrong. Broken camshaft! Yep. Gone up front by the pulley belt still intact, still turns over freely. $1050 fixed on fri. Th guy reckoned tensioner was too tight when cambelt recently replaced at snother workshop. Shit ay?;)

lol jack, guess i owe you a beer,
yea i cant say I've heard of a cam snapping! Wow, so how'd the tensioner get so tight?
Are they a hydraulic one?
