4G93T build

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

i love my set up and it's daily driven currently 19psi on 14b turbo. . spool rods and arias pistons. Factory ecu. Evo 8 560s. 60mm tb. 609 afm. Meek piping kit. Evo 6 fmic. She's gotta breath. All pipes as open as possible. It's all about the flow. Head flow bench tested.

FINALLY got all my bits just after peoples opinion ive got a 4g93p block and crank (no squirters) should i go 93T block? (squirters) Or do you think the 93p block will be sufficiant?

Hey Jesse...I have a 93t block here ready and waiting for you if you want/need it...PM me if your keen.
It still has factory crank , rods and pistons in it too- which I will chuck in the deal if you decide you want it.

Hey man, Ive got all the bits sitting there just havent seen the machine shop yet, thought id actually finish the car instead of building an engine i dont really need at the moment hahaha
i can get a little side tracked. once the car is done though its definately on the cards.

Ok cool, what rods/ pistons and bolts and all that do you plan to use? My engine is now in 3 billion pieces and im ready to buy the parts and have machined or whatever and get ready to rebuild it

Cheers

First thing that should be on the cards is sending the head off to be reconditioned / worked before you do anything to the block booze your rod / pistons then send the block crank rod and pistons off to be balances and mechined to fit

Hi Ian,

Theyre factory 20 thou over 4agze pistons (can use standard pistons if you bores are ok), ca18det rods and i will be using ARP fastners. Use CA18 bearings in the big ends, 4G93 mains.
Havent got rings but i will be finding some hastings rings. CA rods are also too wide in the big end and have to be machined down to fit. And 4agze pistons skirt needs to be modified so the crank countrerweights dont contact them. Also thinking of using a factory 4G92 mivec MLS head gasket.
So:
4AGZE Pistons-Modified for crank counterweights
CA18DET Rods-ARP rod bolts with king or ACL bearings
ARP Mains and head studs

There are half groove bearings for the mains. I can't remember the brand, but I could find out.
They are harder wearing for the power stroke. Lubrication groove is in the upper cap only.
Also your crank can have hand ground leeding grooves cut into the lube holes to advance the
timing of the lubrication & to scoop up more oil as it rotates. This is done by a drag engine
builder near me. He also does knife edging & molly counterweighting etc. He does the cranks
for most of the big boys with rails & funny cars etc. If you need a crank prepped later, I could do
the door to door for you.
Cheers !

The above is what i ran in my GSR in 2007 :p 229kw 12.1 @ 116mph on a chipped ecu

So 4AGZE pistons have to be modified cos they hit the crank, what my machinist did was use a die grinder to grind down the skirt until it cleared.
Hastings chrome moly rings
I ran CA18DET rods that had to be machined down, didnt use ARP rod bolts tho.
Used 3SGTE head studs, standard mains
Used a factory CM5A head gasket which is MLS (around $100 new from mitsubishi)

Good luck!

mind you if i ever did this again i would probably buy off the shelf forged pistons and rods, less messing around!
probably cheaper now...

its funny how much cheaper things are now then they were back then!

what nobody tells you is you cant run the .4 (the thin one cbf remembering exact measurement) head gasket with the arias pistons, you have piston to head issues, so you either have to use a fat headgasket, which is gay, or have the pistons machined to suit... personally i machined mine to suit, but y'all should see my squishband area =D

Sounds interesting Aldo im curious to how costly it may be. JSTYLE Im only really considering this 4AGZE piston/ca rod combo because i got rods for free. pistons cost me 85 bucks each and
i have a spare 4g93 block and crank in the shed lol
