Guys,

My daily died the other night when piston #3 decided to go .. Im in need of a 4g93t CC GSR long block that works and doesnt have blow by that i can just chuck back in the car to get it running again being my daily driver...
If anyone in Melb has one *Cheap* lying around let me know..
Thanks,

Hi mate, ive got a 4g93p out of a Proton Gti, only dun 59k kms, if you wanted you could bolt on the turbo parts onto the 93p and run standard 10psi,and u will have a daily again

in melb too

cheers

Seriously mate.. good luck finding one.. i know of a couple but they need rebuilding...

Did yours throw a piston/rod out the block?. it might not be as bad as you think...

hey mate, um don't think so i think the rings just shrunk , all i know is the 3rd cylinder is gone, thought it was a headgasket, but the headgasket was fine, but it knocked something internally and made a leak, but that was fixed, so now its just a cylinder.

If thats the case, if i were in your shoes, id consider just rebuilding the bottom end with new bearings, rings and gasket. Might just wanna check the bores etc just to be sure..

Does the car still run?.. whats the actual problem?.. car smokey?, no comp?

I haven't started since i took it to the mechanics, and its at the mechanics house, he took out everything and got it checked by the specialist and they said the 3rd rings have shrunk, due to over boosting, but i had a spare motor and they mixed and matched parts, but if i do put it togheter , there is no gaurentee that it will be alright. so they said better be safe then sorry and recondition the whole engine, which will cost 2k+ and im not in the position to do so.
or i can put it back togheter with mix and match but that would cost 1.2kish..

my first rebuild I did the 2k option (after bent rod syndrome due to 18psi thanks to the ex turning it up) - rather do that once than pay 1.2k more than once.. I had to refinance to do the 2k option.

2nd rebuild was not due to any failure I just wanted to forge etc.. 2k option lasted 6 years till i took her off the road, was nice to not have to worry about full cost insurance (went under restoration cover), or worry about dickheads on the road of which most now cant drive for shit and i just public transported it for 3 years while I had some fun and saved for rebuild..

I did this on my own while having 2 jobs and living and work in all different places at different ends of Sydney so no excuses :p (and being a female i have no choice it costs me more just to exist)... I'm sure it would take most guys less than 3 years I just partied a bit too hard for while :)

<life story>

hope I could help you decide
