4GT Drag Day @ Heathcote Park Raceway

Help Support 4GTuner:

What a day indeed!!

Thanks for the kind comments guys!!
I was a little worried at the start running with a missfire and only netting mid 14's with a 4 sec 60fter! I thought that the timeslip was playing up with 128mph on that run. We all thought that due to the dickie timing in lane 2 (right lane)
The day was basically used for logging / testing the car. There are a few things I need sorted like launching and shifting. I think there is a bit of time in both areas.
A big thanks to 3zercrowd, Sivart, Oscar, ClutZ, Chaser and Jayz-1 for helping with the car. No problems dude....just a bit annoyed I couldnt get help out anymore to get the car off the line faster (tyre pressures and launch RPMs/Techniques......). Its one thing to drive your own car fast and try to pass on the skills to someone who is testing/driving the car for the first time that day!
The turnout was less than usual but we had a workshop pull out last minute which left all his customers not wanting to attend also.
Regardless it was a good day to meet and have a play with our cars. Bugger.....
Congrats to the others on achieving pbs!! vr4ce White VR4 13.21@103mph(IIRC) on his first time out
How good was that grannyspec mirage with the 1.6L MIVEC Turbo? 12.8@116mph?
Next time I'll get in the 10's! Fingers crossed! (Not forgetting never to back off before the line... lol )Either I chase more power to make up the wheelspin on launch or just improve on getting the car to hook up....

Anyway, it has been a long and tiring week so off to bed I go!

Keep a lookout in a week on hpheaven.com.au for videos which will be available for purchase.

good to meet a few new people , and catch up with some oldies :p

Jaime was still going on the way home  Unlucky you :p
all good Dre Glad I could help , we saw the tow truck heading up there, the Ralliart Lancer is a nice clean machine to drive I passed it as well....then the ralliart passed me on the side of the road when I was lost, (Damn you victorians and your Farkin Numbered roads! I was looking for Coolabroc (sp) seymour road), so I ripped out the laptop and saw that i missed 2 shortcut roads to the hume
Baz that was a great time for a starter run , there is still alot left in her yet B) Ken oath!
there purple monster got a 12 flat also ;) Yes impressive! Just needs some nice stiff coilovers to stop the squatting ;) Cant remember if you are a member and have a members rides?

Baz your car is nuts man congrats, practice makes perfect and I'm sure there will be a low 10 with more refinement...

Thanks for having me down guys first day was great...

Great day and weather,Good to catch up with new and old faces,Congrats Baz for organising the event and great times.Be patience theres a 10 sec in it for sure.

I did see you on the side of the road , I thought you must have been on the phone , you will have to get your car down next time also for a run

sounds like an awesome day wish i could have made it... but due to unforseen circumstances i couldnt.

congrats to those who hit new pbs!

It's a 1.8 lt mivec mirage. (1300kg plus driver)
12.8@119 mph 19psi 2.2 60ft
Pretty happy with the mph for the issues I had.
Also ran 103mph on 5psi which is pretty good.
It also ran 128mph. But I checked the logs and it was incorrect, according to motec it was only 116mph.

Next time calder. Much closer.

thanks for organising the day guys, had a great time, met a couple more older members and yer was awsome. see u guys next time.

Was an awesome day indeed and the weather made it even better!

Baz your car was average, even my Daewoo lanos can beat 11.08 to 100. Speaking of which, want to trade?

Anyhow, back to reality, congrats to all who went out and played, can’t wait till next time!!!

You did well yesterday and I was impressed! :)
ABOVE RED>> However Mitsubishi only have made 1 model of 1.8L MIVEC motors...that being the new RVR....Yours looked very much like the 1.6L MIVEC out of the early Mirages out of Jap land...UNLESS you chucked the 1.6L MIVEC Head onto the 93T block its not 1.8L but rather the 1.6.....Whatever you did it still goes hard! :D
I would of thought that the Mirage WITH driver would be much lighter due to my GSR with 3/4 tank and driver weighing in with 1320kg...

***Edit Curb weight 1,045 kg (2,300 lb) for the Mirage*** How much do you weigh :p

I fogot to ask you but how much power at the wheels did it get?
I would estimate 220-240kw....for that MPH!

Dane

It's a CE SOHC 4G93 N/A block with a CC shape Mivec head.
If you want to get technical it's a 1.9lt due to the oversized pistons. :)
I have built and tuned this all on my own. Learning along the way.
Don't know about power as I have only street tuned it. Previously with the engine in my old car it made 274kw on 24psi with out fully revving it out. But I don't Dyno numbers anyway.
This car hasn't been running long so it still has some teething issues before I wind the boost back up.

I had the car on a weigh bridge with a full tank of fuel and
it was 1300kg.
1045 is fine for sohc 1.5lt but the 1.8 block, mivec head, turbo, cooler, exhaust, manifolds, battery, radiator, stereo etc must all add up. I didn't believe it had put on so much
weight either.

I estimate it had 230kw - 240kw on the day

Big shout out to Baz, congrats on the time was wrapped when i heard the news (clutz was my man on the ground sms me while i was in syd)
All those years of hard work seem to be paying dividends and i for one couldnt think of a nicer bloke for it to happen to!

The car defintley has some poetential to break some records (and only records touch wood) Hopefully the next time its out i get to see it first hand.

Well done Baz and all the others that smashed their pb's :)

Great stuff Baz. Great achievement with thee new setup. With the mph you achieved, plenty left in the car. 10s definitely not far off.

Ps what is the fastest time for a vr4 in oz?

Yep, 10.98 and the funny thing is that I now own that car too but it's now longer running. The motor has just been sold. So does that theoretically mean I have the fastest vr4 in oz?

Sheldon says 'Bazinga!!!' There's a new number plate for you = BAZNGA lol

Well done Baz. To lay down those sort of numbers on your first outing in the car is amazing. I know you're still sorting out some things so 10.XX is definitely achievable B)
MPH is great!! Are you using the 3.545 ratios? cant remember.
Im sure the boys really appreciate the effort you went to for organising this day and can show the same generosity for organising another event next year ;)
Except next year more people should turn up as they will get a lot more prior notice to get their shit sorted lol :)
Pics and vids or Im going to kill Chase when he gets back into town lol
