hello all,

5 stud conversions have caught my attention recenty and I've been doing some research.

The rears are no issues, it seems you just get FTO rotors which are 5 stud and redrill the gsr/evo hubs to suit.

The fronts it seems you have to swap to FTO or other complete hubs and fit twin Pot calipers over the FTO or magna rotors.

I had an idea which I'm sure lots of other people probably had but I can't find any threads on it. Is it possible and safe/ legal to just have the front hubs redrilled to 5 stud and just use an FTO/ magna rotors and Evo calipers or have the rotors redrilled too?

Im guessing not since someone would have talked about it but maybe it could work.

thanks

do you know what model mmagna hubs? i read a few differing things.

also do they just swap the whole thing over or do you need to have it pressed onto the existing somethings?

Heres mine :D

Havnt installed them yet but you can see whats needed

Take ya front knuckle assembly, press out old 4 stud hubs, then press out old bearing shell, that leaves ya with an empty knuckle yea,

Now get 5 stud hubs from a tr magna as clone said, new bearings, then ya just press it all back together,
note: bearings are pressed in, it is possible to hammer ya old ones out but there usually REALLY tight, and ya can probably use other magnas as well I just have a set from a tr magna

Mine are front fto hubs and knuckles and evo 4-6 rear hubs pressed into the gsr arm/hub carrier

Tr magna is the only magna afaik. Its a change over model with 5 studs and the lesser spline count. Earlier magna had 4 stud and later had more splines.
You have to pop the big cv nut off and check its the right spline as some were not correct.

TR/TS Magna, KR/KS Verada.
They are all the same
no only tr up to 5/92 have the right spline count in the hub

you can use kr/ks front rotors (or abs models) as they have the same front rotor as evo but 5 stud, then fto rear as you said

I wanted to do this on my VR4 and I was strongly advised by a member on here that knows his ****, to re-drill my existing hubs as changing hubs would have an adverse affect on the handling/stability of the car.
Something about them not seating the same as the original ones.
I'll probably end up re-drilling mine when I get around to it. It also saves having to source parts from other cars.

Hubs on gsr and tr magna are the same bar the 5 studs. I would think the knuckle would definitely be different to a vr4.
When you get the parts, you can do the changeover without delay, saves waiting for welding and drilling.

But I have a hub puller, gear pullers, bearing pullers and a press. So that makes it easy. (And king of the pullers)
