Havent got any right now sorry.....

What do u mean by "jap cage"?

The cage was made here as far as i know..its 6 point...has a barcode on it etc...all bolts together..no welds in the legs..all bent....

jap cages tend to have 2 bends in the A-pillar bar

sorry i should have specified.. what clutz said.. the jap cages usually have a lot of bends on the a-pillar legs.. basically they provide structural rigidity but no safety in the case of an accident

The a pillar comes down at the same angle as the windscreen to the dash, bends back and then forward again into the footwell..so i guess thats two bends...it was made here though im pretty sure...

If thats the case, and the front legs sort of wrap around and under the dash and then go down to the floor, then it WON'T comply with the CAMS requirements.

The front legs must only bend at the bottom of the windscreen and then go straight down without bends.

Still fine for a street car.. but yeah if you're doing any sort of racing you will probably find that they'd prefer you not to have no cage rather than that sort of cage..

Sorry JAP63 - I don't want to detract from your sale I was just curious. If this car is still for sale in a while I may be interested..

In the cams manual, if you have a cage (and it doesn't comply with the cams requirements) in an event that does NOT require a cage (eg, motorkhanas, hill climbs, autocross etc), then it is up to the Clerk of Course as to whether you can run or not. I have asked a few COC's up here and all that I spoke with said that they would prefer any cage, to no cage and said they would not prevent you from entering just because of that issue.

So, unless you are going to do tarmac or dirt rallying or improved production circuit racing, you would be pretty right.

The other thing, if that cage was made in Japan and actually FIA homologated (and you have the numbers and paperwork to prove it), cams cannot and will not overrule that and you can use that cage in CAMS sactioned rallies etc and they can't do a thing.

oh, free bump :D

I think thats the problem - it's always open to interpretation. I know Troy raced in some events with a jap cage years back. SA must have bastards :)

Up here, motorsport is dying off and they are entrant/money hungry, they won't turn you away unless you have really pissed them off in the past or it is a really popular event and they are oversubscribed for entries (which is rare).

Yeah buddy...still for sale..no one has purchased her yet...

Thanks for the free bump rob,,

And as far as paperwork for the cage..i dont have any..but the cage has a Barcode stamped on it..i dont know where exactly it was made but it is a very good job...it has 4mm rubber all over plus ive then further added another 20mm of proper foam tubing to that..so theres an inch of foam on it...plenty for a roadworthy item and you couldnt bruise your head if you tried... 8)

The main thing is..i put it in for rigidity..I dont say this to be silly..but i could honestly feel the difference it made..combined with 9 inch wheels and it sticks fairly well...just needs coilovers for a full setup..and the 4WS eliminated..i dont like it..and oh yeah..i have the tailshaft bearings..they will be supplied if someone would like to buy it now.

What's your centre diff like with those wheels and that height?
How would one ascertain Centre Diff health?
The front isnt all that low..guard to centre off around 320mm..Plenty of vr4's around at that front height or lower.
Drivelines ok..all it needs as stated is Carier Bearings
