Help Support 4GTuner:

Thanks Aldo.
So if I am trying to avoid breaking my tranny, it would be advisable to not perform the blue wire mod?
I would rather live with longer shift time than increase the chance of breaking something in the transmission.
What is your opinion on the button up/down shift modules?
I always thought TCU's would be best at the job they were designed to do but I must say, the **** factor is a 10/10. :p

I have auto, manual & shiftbox
The blue wire mod won't hurt an RVR. High torque & big psi applied at lower speeds kills more.
2 of the 4 buttons on my steering wheel is for cruise control. The other 2 are for up/down gears.
A shiftbox uses full line pressure. So no need to do the blue wire mod if you buy one of them.
Translab STL-175-HP valve body shift kit & a shiftbox shifter like Tim has, is a good matching pair.
Using full pressure needs a valve body kit to avoid gears overlapping. Stronger spings keep up.
You could do that, so long as you leave the alen bolt set std. The kit will tell you to adjust it if
you want faster shifts. I don't recomend adjusting it for a stock std box. 16-18 psi is your limit.
Anymore than that needs internal mods for it to be reliable. A half job is pushing the auto limits.
I don't want to be the cause of broken auto boxes. They weren't made to handle big turbos & big psi.
Mitsu put the smallest turbo on them & detune the tcu for that reason. Like manuals, autos need mods
if the plan is to try & kill it. That's enough warning. Back to the thread.
Cheers
