Is it worthwhile putting an adjustable camgear on a SOHC? I don't think so for the fact of advancing or retarding it will effect both the induction and exhaust timing.

Let me know if I'm wrong :p

from what i understand you are pretty much spot on... however...

- bling bling factor
- new cam gear could be lighter = less friction loss
- you may actually find a point (in dialling in the gears) that has a higher hp than factory... this will take some dyno time... gain surely would be too significant
- you can dial in a setting that will suit your type of driving... eg. alter the power curve

I ask this because I'm doing a Port and Polish and putting a new cam in. So while everything is apart I may as well change everything that needs to be.

Asked Jeff at Tech///Sport and he said on Mitsi's as a whole a Camgear does close to nothing, only when you start boring and stroking does it become critical.
