aftermarket ecu

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

autronic seems to be the flavour of the month, and for good reason.

I'm running a wolf with no complaints though.

bang for buck does the autronic beat going for a chip like one that meek offers?

Errr no chalk and cheese
chip = cheap, does the job, very little modifications.
aftermarket ecu = expensive, does the job with better perameters, major install and dyno tune.

Depending on the reasons you are wanting an aftermarket ecu in the first place! vs budget $$.

What modifications do you have?
Depending on what you plan on doing, select an ecu to suit!

There is no point just getting MOTEC for a bleed valve and exhaust when a stock ecu with a chip could take care of the change with a fraction of the price of an aftermarket...

anyone here like microtech? lol. im putting my car back to closer to standard specs and was just curious if its worth tryin to sell it.

Na, tuners will tell you Microtech arent as advanced or have the tuning capabilities of the Haltech & Autronic ECU's.

IMO go the Haltech E8 ECU with EVO I-III patch loom which plugs straight into your current ECU plugs so stuff all wiring involved and no need to pay someone to wire it up as you can do it yourself. They also come with a base map to get the car up and running  For $1800 new and basically plug and play in as little as a few minutes you cant go wrong. Obviously depending on mods you'll need to get it tuned to suit but they are pretty damn good for the money with excellent support via the Haltech Forum. People complain about the lack of support from Autronic although Autronic do make a very good ECU as well.

I dont see any issue with selling it as some rave about microtech (or have a mircotech expeirenced tuner) 1 major choice when deciding what aftermarket ecu to choose *having someone who is competent with its interface ;)

Microtech are fine as ECUs .. I drove my car 800km/s a week with 'reasonable' fuel economy with one for over a year .. it's the guy controlling it that counts.

And on that .. don't try and choose an ecu, instead, choose a tuner. Do your research and find someone you can trust, has a good record, and stands by their work - then use whatever they recommend. An ECU is only as good as the guy tuning it .. a good tuner with a microtech will make a car run better than a shit tuner with a motec m800 any day of the week.

Oh Frank-e, I'm gonna give you heaps next time you call. Starting with "leave Microtechs for the rotors  " :p

Has anyone had experience with the Apexi Power FC?? they now make a plug n play for the EVO III

i pretty sure it is an evo 4 one with an adaptor loom.

some people get very good results from power fcs. except
im pretty sure that the evo ones are not djetro which means you have to
run an air flow meter still, keeps the cops happy when they look
under your bonnet though

oh ok...good point. heheh.

thanks for the input guys, i was a bit sceptical about selling my ECU. i wasnt sure if i would be able to sell it cause people seem to have negative views regarding microtech hehe.

what is in your opinion the max potential for one of MEEK's chipped ecu?

ive heard you can run anti lag on the standard ecu?
