Hi Guys,

I'm wanting to temporarily remove my heater and air conditioner so that I can plumb through a firebomb fire extinguisher etc. I've got all the dash out and everything.

What I'm wondering, is if I undo the connection labelled 6&7 in the diagram below, I presume I'm going to lose my air conditioner fluid. Is it just gas that will go into the air, or is it oil that I have to drain first, and capture in a container? Will Re-gassing cost much?

ALso, is there a better way? I only need to get unit #8 (cooling+blower unit) about 2 inches away from the firewall inside the car, but from what I can tell, the connection of 6&7 holds the unit against the firewall.

???

CHeers + thanks,
Scott.

hey scott,

you will have to undo it and you will loose the gas.

there may be a little dye/oil in there but very little.

regassing costs between $70-$100 usually for a proper job with
dye

Thanks Doug.
3zer; I'm removing all the carpet, and want to put in a firebomb fire extinguisher, which is an extinguisher that has ducts (kinda like ducted air conditioning), so if you're upside down, half unconscious, can't reach fire extinguishers due to the tree that's in the way, and the car catches fire: with a firebomb you just push the button, and pfsshtt, foam stuff comes out all the ducts in the car, and the fire goes out. You can also mount external buttons too, so if you're out for the count, a kind passer by/official can put the first out for you!

Cheers,
Scott.
