alarm system?

i'm looking for an alarm system but don't know where to start? i've heard good things from viper and some from mongoose? any other brands that you guys recommend?.. how about the items from ebay?

anyone have one of those? and are they cheaper from ebay then in store? also how much would it cost to install them?.. cheers

I got an m80 and central kit for $300 delivered.

If you want good Mongoose get the m80au. I think thats the best Mongoose.

i've got a viper (i think)
I got it through the tint professor/the alarm professor for about $450 marked down from about $700. It has 3 point immobilisation, black wiring, adjustable shock sensor, etc. etc.

i had a viper v791xv whatever it is

great alarm, i got it for $350, and installed for $90

mongoose are great alarms, the m80s/g is great

the mongoose is insurance approved, whereas the viper is not

you have to look for the australian standards approval before buying an alarm because the insurance company could screw you over

but then again, any alarm is only as good as the install

i'd rather get a cheap alarm/immobiliser and an expensive install, than an expensive alarm and a cheap install

settled with a Mongoose M80G - REMOTE CONTROLLED TRIPLE IMMOBILISER & ALARM.. came today in the mail so should have it installed once i get it back from the workshop.
anyone recommend anywhere to get it installed? as ive heard the alarm depends mainly on the installation.

Intrellitrac is pretty good IMHO. You might want to get a quote off them. Monitoring is $242 pa though but well worth it for piece of mind. :wink:
