Hey guys,

Been a while since my last post, couple of years i reckon.

My question is...
Got the mother of all stereo systems to install in my ride and i would like to upgrade my alternator in the process to something large!
And another reason is that the timing for this change is good for me as the bearing in the current alternator is sounding pretty sad.

I will be running 2 x 1000W RMS mono blocks and 4 x 150W RMS amps, and my battery is tiny so i dont for see it going well without upgrading the alternator.

Does anyone know of larger alternators that will fit the 4G93T engine?

Will a 4G63 alternator fit, i see the VR4 one is about 125 Amp.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Jayrome did it to his 63, but on the same note the bastard can make a square peg fit a round hole! joy of being a welder/ fabricator I guess,

Most people just upgrade the engine....to a 4g63t.....and be done with it.
I have a forged 1.8, the car is fully done. your comment is useless to me, why would i want to change my engine just cause i wanted to upgrade my alternator.

Jayrome could attach anything to anything, ive seen that guys work. he is the master craftsman.

I have searched the net and managed to find info that all 4g93 alternators should fit, i dont really know if that will help me find a high capacity alternator from a OEM mitsubishi.

anyway, rekon ill bite the bullet and pull my one out on the quest to find a suitable replacement.

ps, im used to this forum providing answers not stupid comments, things have changed since Team4G

I dont know what will fit as a bolt on upgrade. As long at the tensioner bolt is on correct side I suppost the rest is only spacers and a few mods.
the 200a saturn is the go for g63, maybe the 63 and 93 have same alternator, but they are on different sides of the block so not sure

Mate, I reckon it might be a case of pulling yours out and heading to a wrecker and seing what other Mitsu's you could swap it out with. Try Magnas, 380's etc.

I've never looked into this before, but considering nobody here has done it, this might be your only solution.

I'm running a forged 93t also, you get used to the 63t comments after a while... :)

It was a joke mate, lighten up..that stemmed from another thread....no need to get all upset over nothing....things are still the same here as the old days...with a little more light heartedness involved.

even if you upgrade your alternator, your battery wont keep up.

go get your self some decent size dry cell battery like an optima yellow top - stinger spp2150 and you will need atleast 3 farad capacitor aswell and give that a go..

Whats std gsr, 75amps? I think ce lancers/ mirages have 90 amp by memory, ill try find the mrs old one and do a quick comparison, not a huge jump though really, another option is to get ya alternator rewound and a smaller pulley put on to pick back up the loss at idle

but as said a deep cycle battery (maybe as a 2ndary even) imo, is definately gunna be needed,

dont forget to get some massive power cables, wouldnt go anything less then 0 gauges power cables and have the battery relocate in the boot with some circuit breakers, if your gonna install the system yourself, make sure you run the power cables on long the driver side and RCA cables on the left side of the car..

dont forget show us some pictures of your doof doof when your done ;)

You can take it to an alternator shop and they can re wind them to put out more amps (even up to like 150amps). Probably cost about $200 but everything is new with a warranty.

Going to the local auto elec, they are going to quote me on a rewind for higher output.
Project has been on hold for a while as i am concidering taking the GSR off the road to finish it off properly.
Just bought an RVR which ill use for my daily bus.
