Thoughts on mods for a lancer CC GSR 4g93t

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

TD04H-13T and the smaller exhaust housing which is different to the rvr style which has the same exhaust housing as a 16g
Ive got a 19T rebuild kit an cover to try (just waiting on delivery)
Gunna run it on the Mrs bros car an see what its like compared to the 16g

Oh an 20psi seems pretty conservative on a forged 93 considering mine was 150awkw at 17 psi completely stock internals

Hey Mat

Here are a few from when I was fitting my FMIC, car has not changed much since then, I have not posted a members ride thread as it is nothing new or extraordinary, just a CC GSR with some bolt on mods.

I know some like to upgrade the exhaust to 3" as soon as they chuck on the TD05 but in your experience do you reckon the 3" exhaust was overkill because it's more suited to the bigger 63 than the 93? Sounds like even though with a bigger turbo, the 2.5" exhaust is more suited for the smaller 93T. Just curious as I always thought that the upgraded exhaust was just a 'give-in' mod.

Re the 3" exhaust, its a bit like the 80 20 rule, I would have got most of the benefit with a 2 1/2 " with less cost, money I could have put in to something that would have given me more bang for my buck. I'm running a 4g93t, on standard cams with only 15psi boost and still on the TD04 (yep, 16g in the shed, will get to it!) so I don't think that combo warranted a huge 3" pipe; now if I was running a 63 with lots of boost and e85 and cams etc etc then yes, thats a different story! I have seen threads that talk about exhausts and a few seemed to say that 2 1/2" was well worth considering, depending on much had been done to the motor.

My opinion is back pressure aint ya friend and if ya spending money on an exhaust, why wouldnt ya just go 3inch.
A 2L only has 50ml per cylinder more so really a meagre difference.
And if anyone mentions off boost torque then you need a slapping

I had a 2.5 inch on my wagon was insanely drivable through the whole rev range and made good power. I do sort of feel a 3 inch might be overkill. Im putting a 3 inch on my other 93t so i will see.
