fwd / awd flywheels have different ring gear sizes

you cannot use a fwd in an awd , even though they bolt up fine.
u cant use an awd in a fwd, the ring gear wont make contact with the starter motor

any cordia guys experience anything like this?

most of us use cordia flywheels with cordia gearboxes with our conversions baz

im surprised no cordia guy has tried a vr4 flywheel and wasn't able to start the motor =)

does anybody have a cordia flywheel they can measure up?

from the edge of the ring gear to the other side..

i just want to make sure 100%..

Only problem found with the CB lancer when using the standard GSR flywheel and box, the flywheel has to be heavily "lightened".

I was looking into buying a fidanza flywheel, but it's an expensive mistake to make if it's not the right size..

so i guess its the same here then

fwd box's (regardless if dsm or not aka hyundai) use 5mm larger ring gears.
so that would probably mean cordia's use the same? or do cordia's still use the vr4 sized flywheel?

cordia flywheel is amaller than vr4, so no one bothers Baz.

so cordia = KM210 gearbox (with a flat 215mm flywheel)

if somebody could get an exact measurement of a cordia flywheel that would be awesome

also a vr4 would be good also.. (jstyle)

if you can measure ring gear - ring gear (one side to the other) and same goes with the flywheel disc (if u know what i mean)

i want to figure this out once and for all

i actually purchased my flywheel off a cordia owner..
thought they were the same

i have found out a bit more info

cordia's actually use a smaller flywheel and clutch
(8 1/2")
compared to vr4's
(9")

and there are supposably 2 types of vr4 flywheels??
bigger and smaller one..
but i dont think this is right

anyway,

does anybody know what other car could use a 6bolt fwd 4g63 type flywheel?

do galant gsr's????
or are galant gsr's the same as vr4's?

okay..
its true cordia's have a smaller flywheel
the only way for a cordia owner to use this flywheel and also use a vr4 / evo / gsr clutch pressure plate and disc is to upgrade the gearbox..

this is done by using a FWD sonata gearbox like explained in the 4g61t document..

so if anybody is interested in doing the swap over..
my flywheel is for sale =)
