Hello peoples,

My rego is due soon, and i need to get wheels which is proving to be difficult in 4 x 114.3 so a 5stud conversion is inevitable.

Anyone able to help with the sourcing or parts and the process ? Im well mechanically minded and will even have a workshop at hand.
Willing to arrange some type of payment for the effort :)

Current wheels are bald as fuk, hence the urgency!

Or at least a dummy guide.

like what year magna hubs/rotors/calipers do i need?

How , where/who can assist in re-drilling the rear hubs? Where do i then buy the 5th stud ? after doing so can i keep the stock rotor and caliper for the rear?

Desperate man here. :)

okay i just completed my 5 stud conversion in the last couple of weeks. **EDIT** ( also forgot to say this it to convert to 5 x 114.3, which are evo 4 onwards, most toyotas and fords )

Simple first your rears. Either source some evo 4, 5, 6rear hubs and press them in ( which are inpossible or more expensive then gold ). Press out your hubs take to any engineering place and just redrill them

Front hubs. Okay first do you want to keep your abs? ( YES, use your gsr steering nuckles ) ( NO, find yourself tr,ts magna or kr, ks verada steerings nuckles. You can also use FTO nuckles like i did )

If you want your abs , press our your hubs and bearings from your gsr nuckles, if you want to do this right its worth sand blasting/soda blasting the bare nuckles and painting with heatproof paint plus it looks good. Press in new bearings and replace new seals. press out the hubs from either the fto/magna/verada steering nuckles and same again, clean them up and i replaced the studs while i had them out since threads were not the best etc. Hammer in new studs then press in the hubs to the nuckles. Thats them done

Okay the brake calliper is pretty much the same deal. The twin piston calliper off the magna/verada/fto are all the same as the evo 1 2 3 except eaesier to find/source. I used the fto front callipers. I bought rebuilt kits which take about 25 to do. There will be somewhere on here about how to rebuilt your calipers just have a look. Also if you going to get new discs like most people do you can either get standard discs or slotted ( if you get slotted its recommended to buy braided lines etc ) i kept standard discs but did replace the brake lines with new rubber ones. Install all together and bleed the brakes done.

Overall cost
FTO nuckles, callipers from wreckers ($50)
new discs ($75)
new bearings ($110)
new pads ($38)
new brakes lines ($55) or your looking at about 60-80 each for braided
im able to sand blast/paint shop etc at work since i got nothing better to do at work. So might wanna make some friends who have this equipment

all out i think apart from new banjo bolts washers it came to about $340 for the front and rear cost me just bearings since i redrilled them myself
but most places will charge you about 30 each hub so your looking at the cost of new studs

also remember your going to need either 4 more wheel studs or all of them. If you have a gsr your threads are already 12m by 1.5mm pitch
if its a cc lancer they are 12m by 1.25mm pitch . All the magna fto blah evo blah are 12m by 1.5mm pitch

Any other questions feel free to message me

1) Ok i need to show something to the engineering place when taking the rear hubs for re-drilling.
2) Where do i buy the new studs from ?

Also, if the hubs will be re-drilled and i want to keep rear GSR brakes , do i also re-drill the discs? Or what other discs will fit with same diameter and 5 holes ?

Page 3 in my members ride shows the front conversion with magna hubs and discs. I reused the front bearings and just regreased them. But I did change the race on the hub to maintain the matching bearing. But if they wear out I can change them myself at home.

Dunno about rears as mine are different, but I think evo4 rear disc are right and 5 stud.
Studs are available from repco or anywhere. Or you will have 8 studs on your old front hubs, use them..

Dude, I only know from what I have read here, so I know it is here somewhere.
Its pretty hard spoon-feeding you information.
Also, there is a disc fitment catalogue available for download (rda, I think?) that will let you compare your Gsr discs to every other disc available including evo4.

Don't mean to be harsh, but use your resources. Evocoupe has the conversion as well. Search vfaq as well for other dsm queries.
Read dsmtuner as well

dba have a catalogue to download. it will tell you that evo4 are too big.
trawling through the 200 odd pages gives the following:

gsr. part no- 406, solid, diameter- 260, height- 41, thickness- 10, min thick- 8.4, locating hole- 90, studs- 4

if you go through the entire book, like i did for you, they say that the one you want is fto or eclipse, but they not available from dba so look elsewhere or the next closest is:

mazda 626 ge-gf, solid, diameter- 261, height- 40, thickness- 9.5, min thick- 8.0, locating hole- 72, studs- 5

so now you need to decide if you are going to try some, make sure the mazda is 5x114.3 for pcd, and that it will fit over your hub, and machine the centre bore from 72 out to 90. (this will be easier and cheaper and more legal than drilling your rear discs)

or just drill your rear discs at the same time you get the hubs done

only cost me $20 each disc to get them redrilled at my local machinist . might work well to shop around

This is the problem with sitting in an office, can't just run down and start to pull the wheels off etc. hence why im on here to get help and get correct gear which i can play with on the weekend :)

Just thinking, would my GSR spline/bearing fit/press into the Magna hub ? And I have the single pot Magna brakes... does this matter or do i "need" twin pot for this to work ?

I was also told i can use front Magna hub for the rear on the GSR.

you cant use magna hubs for the rear since they have no drive.

the front have to be 25 spline, the tr ts magna / kr ks verada / fto all have 25 spline 5 stud hubs

good info in the thread, but:
You seriously can't find wheels in a 4x114.3 stud pattern?
THIS!
you seem to be going to an awfull lot of trouble for the sole reason of being able to get new wheels/tyres.
why don't you just put some better tyres on your current wheels?
or
get some wheels that already fit. if you can't find any, then you're probably not really looking. I've got about 3 sets laying around in the shed lol!

not trying to hang shit on you or anything, as there is probably a few good reasons to do it. just seems a bit over the top if the main reason you are doing it is bald tyres.....
