as above, anyone running their microtech (im getting a lt10s) as a piggyback off the stock ecu.

the seller has offered to draw up a wiring diagram, but if anyone has any info now on whats required it will make my install much easier.

one thing i want to know is, since its a map based ecu do i need to install a proper air intake temp sensor for it?
I had one on a old haltech map ecu & i thought they were manditory.

cheers

nah ive decided to give one a go, seems quite a few people use them with success.

thanks for the advice tho

do yourself a favour and get something else, like a haltech platinum interceptor
interested to hear why you think this tho.

i realise the haltech is a good unit, but surely the lt10 cant be that bad that you would just write it off?

cheers

see how you go, is your tuner familiar with microtech?

10 years ago I may have said go for it, these days there are so many better units around

yeah lots of tuners do them over here, not so much on 4g's but i dont see that as a big issue.

anyway its coming tuned, so if i keep the boost low it should be fine for now.

i dont know if your familiar with the haltech E6A, but its ancient and that was fine for me a few years ago.

cheers

I've got mircotech...has been run of a few of my mates cars no probs at all but changing from autronic to Haltech on the drag car and OMFG wish I put one on my old III now!!

I'm with Dougmo on this one.... do your self a favour and keep with the Haltech. At least with the Haltech you can run it in closed loop and get pretty good fuel economy. If you arent going to race with it ( of which Microtech is okish), then the majority of your driving will be cruising around in traffic etc. You WILL NOT get reasonable fuel economy on a LT10 compared to more up specced aftermaket ecu's. Just my opinion in tuning all the aftermarkets in the last 20 years...

Otherwise, good luck with fuel economy, rich running and wearing out the cylinder bores .

Actually, do yourself a financial favour and run the ECM Link product ( assuming you still have the stock management in place). It is by far the easiest to install, best system for tuning, price and results !!

nwr31, i would strongly suggest reconsidering microtech, i tune cars often and microtech are probably the very bottom of the good pile
the reason i suggest it is the resolution on a link or haltech platinum is 1000% better than the microtech, also the link has probably the fastest processor and also the mapping is by far more accurate, by using a tighter 3d map.... by all means put the microtech in, you wont notice a difference in driving the car between computers, but you can get it to be a bit more responsive and accurate... personally i hate tuning microtech, because its a very rough system (imagine straight pointy lines to draw a 's'...opposed to smooth curved lines)

Im currently running a microtech in my 93t and couldn't be happier with it. Was able to remove the stock computer (which was chipped) completely and yes this is a daily driver. Only niggles I have with it are cold starts but I have an xf idle control valve sitting around somewhere to put on it. made 215kw at treds and that was with a boost leak. if you need any help advice installing it let me know cause I did the install myself.

i dont see the resolution as an issue, ive ran safc2 & greddy emanage (300hp atw evo 6) which would have similar (most probably much worse) resolution than the microtech.
appreciate the opinion tho.
cheers

sounds great, i think i will still be running my stock ecu so i shouldnt have any cold start issues??

thanks very much for the offer, will see how i go.

cheers

btw Swenton, have you got a proper air intake temp sensor installed on the cold side of the cooler piping?
thanks

i think your being overly dramatic there

my haltec was open loop & i got great ecomomy with that, to say a properly tuned microtech cant produce good afr's is a big call, considering plenty of cars use them.
And no im not just talking about tuning for WOT.

if a safc can do it im pretty sure a microtech can as well :)

if you're keeping stock ecu, why not get ecmlink then? Its probably cheaper then what you're paying for microtech(v3 lite is under $400), definitely easier to install and tuning capabilities are far more easier and advanced compared to microtech. What exactly is stopping you from achieveing your power goals that you think standard ecu + ecmlink cant do and microtech can?

no idea who would tune a 'ecm link' here. is that the same as the old 'link' ecu's that were popular on wrx's a few years ago, cause ive never heard of them before. also i assume they still use an AFM?

cause i want a map based ecu again.

im getting a good deal on a microtech & injectors thats been tuned (ie, in the ballpark) for my motor.

and since it will be running in piggy mode install should be easy.
cheers

ask around, maybe there are workshops out there that tune ecmlink. But honestly if you invest in a wideband O2 sensor and have a fair knowledge on how to tune cars you wont need to pay anyone to do it, you could do it yourself.

http://www.ecmtuning.com/

with ecmlink you can also convert it to have a map based ecu ;)
