anyone tuned/used e85?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

might speak to my tuner about my setup first and go from there.....

might just stick to pulp and run c16.. sounds simplier.. especialy with the haltech!

Sorry, what I meant was you still aim for a 12.5:1 / 12:1 AFR with a wide band o2 sensor...

But what you will find out is that you will need to add a heap more fuel to get that AFR...

As for timing, you'd pretty much add timing until you stop making power or you start hearing knock..

And a tip!!

When I had a pump fuel, the power was limited, once you go a better fuel such as C16, pinging is almost not possible, you would probably lose power or run out of timing... The downside is you're more likely to break something because of this (ie, my blocks sleeve)..

If you are aiming for 300 - 350kw's with your setup and you can do it on pump, then just stick with pump.

If you are struggling to find that power, then go the race fuel only if your motor is built for it.

It's good to have a limit sometimes!

All i know about E85 is that cause's alot of problem's in the head's. If you wonder why i know , i sometime's help out in the jack daniels racing engine shop. it's caused alot of drama's for alot of team's. that's my 2 cent's.

He's talking about the problems of running E85 with certain grades of aluminium. Depending on the composition of the alloy in your car the E85 could corrode away your fuel lines, fuel rail, fuel filter, fuel tank, fuel pump, head and alloy block if you have one too.

It does take a very long time to do it though. The cars I have seen that have been running it for a long while are not exhibiting any signs of corrosion? I wonder how much more compression the V8 boys need to run now with the E85?

FYI,

Springy tuned a pump fuel XR6turbo which made 320kw's at the rear treads, the customer then filled up with united 100ron fuel and without any other change, it made 370kw's at the rear wheels.

Eth works!

i am using the united 100 fuel..its the best available pump fuel @ the moment imo. plenty of guys i know use this fuel in race cars with good results

Sorry, by changes I meant hardware. It needed to be tuned still..

That united 100 is everywhere also!
The XR6 ran a flat 11 when STIKLR / PROEVO were racing..
